Daddy and I watched lots of films when we got home, we ordered pizza and then watched more films, Daddy didn't eat much though, he said he felt really sick. He was sick a few times too, and he was rather pale, in fact he had been like that for a few days, but everytime he had told me it was fine and blamed it on alcohol, he didn't seem too worried. The fact it had been almost a week and I hadn't seen him drink more than one can in a day worried me a fair amount, but he really didn't seem to notice or worry so I ignored it.
We lost track of time during our movie marathon and ended up asleep on the couch, until Daddy woke me up at about twelve thirty, I was sleeping on him and he said I needed to get up. He went into the bathroom and didn't come out for almost fifteen minutes, before he came out paler than a vampire, the only thing missing was the blood down his face, although it did look like he had some on his pants.
"Daddy are you okay?" I asked when he sat down next to me again, his hands were very cold and they were as pale as his face, he and Dad never were tanned people, in fact they were rather pale, but I could see he was particularly pale then. The only two things I was worried about were him being ill and him making me ill, although he was absolutely certain neither would happen.
"I'm fine." He smiled weakly downing his whole glass of water on the table.
"You're really really pale, you've been sick a lot this week, are you sure?" I asked fearfully, Dad wasn't even here if Daddy was ill, I wouldn't know what to do.
"I'm fine Kyle, pale because I'm dehydrated and puking because I've had too much alcohol on an empty stomach." He shrugged.
"You haven't had any alcohol Daddy." I replied, pointing out the floor in his excuse, I had made a note of the amount he'd been drinking - on Auntie Hannah's request - and he hadn't had anything today and only half a can of beer yesterday.
"Bedtime." He said turning off the TV and seeming to completely ignore me, probably because I was right, he pointed me up the stairs, taking our plates and glasses into the kitchen before switching out the lights and following me up the stairs.
"Daddy, are you sure you are okay?" He nodded smiling and following me to the top of the stairs, "Because you said I could sleep in your bed tonight, I don't want to get ill." I said turning to face him as I stood before my bedroom door.
"You can still sleep in my bed buddy, I swear on my life that I am okay and you won't get ill." I nodded and slipped into my bedroom to put my pyjamas on, before going into the bathroom to brush my teeth.
Once I had brushed my teeth, I sat on the bed in Daddy's room, listening to him in the bathroom, he was getting changed, before I heard something fall to the floor and he was vomitting again. Screwing my face up and staring down at my feet, I sang to myself until I heard the toilet flush and him begin to brush his teeth again, I hated it when he was ill. When he had brushed his teeth, he sat down on what sounded like the side of the bath and began talking to himself, I couldn't hear him well enough to work out what he was saying properly, but it sounded something like him telling himself, he was fine, Dad would forgive him and he needed sleep.
He came back into the bedroom after that, switching off the lights and turning on his bedside lamp, he slipped under the covers looking like he was almost falling asleep, he gave me a strange look when I just sat cross-legged ontop of the covers. I just stared sadly at him, I wanted him to feel better, it was a scary thought that he was so ill, he got ill a fair amount, much more than Dad, but never this badly, it was particularly worrying as Dad wasn't even here.
"Just sleep Kyle, everything is fine." He sighed poking my knee and trying to lift the covers for me to come in, I nodded, flipping away all my worries and tucking myself into his chest, and pulling the covers right up into my neck, everything was fine.
