Running a hand through my hair, I carried my coffee and a stack of assessments down the corridor, dodging the large amounts of students swarming the hallways as they left their final classes. Gerard's room was empty, but he was sat with his head in his hands at his desk, his elbows resting on either side of a few sheets of paper. Quietly and carefully, I slipped through the slightly ajar door, pushing it closed behind me, the clicking noise startling him and making him dart his head up. His mouth curved into a pleased and gentle smile when he saw me, it made my day that little bit better too, to know somebody was pleased to see me, even if it was just so they could get out of detention.
"You alright?" I asked dropping my papers onto the table closest to his desk and putting my coffee down next to it, as he stood up taking the few steps necessary to be stood directly in front of me.
"Mm-hm, tired, I can't really be bothered with this meeting either." He chuckled taking hold of my right hand and playing with my fingers, it reminded me of Kyle rather a lot when he did that, especially when he began to twist my rings and play with them, Kyle had an obsession with doing that. When I think about it, actually so did Gerard, whenever he's thinking, or sad, or tired, he'll mess with my rings, not his but mine, it was almost as though he was using them as a way of reassuring himself that I was here and here to stay; that I loved him and I would stand by him forever.
"Hopefully it'll be quick and we can go home." I smiled pushing a strand of hair from his face, surprised that none of his detention students were here yet.
"Kyle has football until five, right?" He asked, I raised my eyebrows, my jaw dropping a little, Kyle did have football I had completely forgotten about that, usually Gerard's Mom picked Kyle up and we would get him from there as early as we could. We felt like we were a burden but Donna seemed to enjoy Kyle's company more than anything in the world and made it very clear every time we went to get him that both her and Donald wanted him to stay forever, Kyle certainly loved being picked up by his grandparents, he too always complained when we came to get him, so I'm guessing it wasn't too much of a problem.
"Yes, right yeah, uh we can get him then." I smiled glancing down at my phone to see the time, "That's plenty of time two hours."
"Well these guys only have half an hour." He said looking to the empty classroom then at the sheet of paper on the desk, "I probably won't be that long." He smiled leaning in to kiss me. Stepping back and running a hand through his hair, he pulled far away from me when the door swung open, a kid with headphones and a big hoodie, hood pulled up so he hadn't even seen us. Two other boys walked in a moment or so after him, followed by a slightly shorter curly haired girl. Daisy, she had very red lips, a very made up face and a ridiculously short skirt, you could see she had gained some weight over Christmas, that was for sure.
"Well, thank you Mr Iero, I'll be twenty minutes probably." He smiled as he would to any other teacher, before turning to his students. "Just because Mr Iero is taking the detention, doesn't make it any different to normal, you do not mess him about otherwise you'll have an hour tomorrow." He said firmly, smiling at me a final time, his eyes showing great gratitude.
Unsure of what to say, I settled for just sitting in the desk chair and getting on with my work, I never gave detentions and I had never gone to the ones I was set. The first detention I went to really was the first art detention here, because I had had Gerard last lesson, after that I never went to any other detentions as Gerard had always gotten me out of. In a sense that wasn't really a good thing because I was never told officially punished for my wrongs, instead I was taking it in the ass - and enjoying it - but never the less, I hadn't a clue what to do for a detention.
Beginning to flick through the assessment papers I had in front of me, I was interrupted by a high pitched cough. Looking up I saw the overly powdered and made-up face of Daisy, I tried to smile at her, laying my pen down hoping she would give me some form of speech to tell me why she was here. After standing in front of the desk for a moment or two, she dropped her gaze to her feet where she scuffed them against the floor sniffing.
