Toga led Chise down the stairs, humming to herself happily. Dabi had been gone for almost a week, leaving her to her devices and recovery. She mostly kept to herself in the room she had been placed in. Compress would bring her food and check her shoulder, making idle conversation. Today Toga begged her to come downstairs and braid her hair.

"Toga," Chise sat on the couch, "please keep in mind I haven't braided hair in a long while."

"It's fine!" She grinned and sat down, "My momma used to do it when I was little, she was shit at it too."

Chise nodded and brushed through the girls blonde hair. It was incredibly soft, and well kept. "So you said your mother used to do this?"

"Yeah," the girl blushed, "it feels better when you do it. She used to pull my hair."

"I'll do my best." Chise had spoken to Mr Compress about Toga in one of their many afternoon conversations. He had explained her background, how she felt forced to be who others wanted her to be. It hit close to the young woman. It was sad that she had been driven to become who she is today.

"Are you and Dabi in love?"

She paused, "What?"

"Are you and Dabi in love?" She glanced back at Chise before turning forward once more, "He treats you different."

"We have an understanding," Chise continued to braid.

Toga giggled, "Like a friends with benefits understanding."

Chise rolled her eyes, "Where are you coming up with these theories?"

"I can't tell," her voice had changed slightly.

Chise gave her shoulder a soft squeeze, "It's okay, you don't have to." She smiled at her work, "All done."

Toga reached up and felt the braided buns on her head and squealed, "Oh they feel so adorable! I can't wait to show Twice!"

Chise chuckled and stood, "I'm sure he'll love them too."

Twice did in fact love her braided buns, praising her for being so cute. Mr Compress had commented on them as well. It seemed they allowed her to be the child she always wanted to be. She was silently enjoying watching them when a new form walked through the door, one she had hoped to never see again.

Golden eyes glared down a plague mask, his auburn hair was still the same as it had been five years ago. He placed his gloved hands into his pockets. Chise met his glare with her own. She didn't back down from him then, she wouldn't back down now. Compress shifted his attention, studying the two for a moment before Overhaul turned and walked towards the room Shigaraki had claimed as his own.

"Do you two know one another?"

Chise nodded, "You could say that."

"Oh an old flame," Toga blushed at the thought.

"No," Chise couldn't help but chuckle, "My parents were Yakuza..."

"I see," Compress prodded for more information, "Were you rivals?"

"Yes. His former boss killed my parents, and took their territory."

"Oh, I see."

"It doesn't matter to me," Chise stood, "They deserved what they got in the end."

She walked out onto the porch and let out a long breath, running a hand through her waves. She was there the day they came in and attacked her family. She was coming to visit for the first time since she had ran away. When she first learned Haru existed.

"Chise," she turned to see him leaning on the hand rail, "it's been a while."

"Yes, Kai, it has."

"I heard what happened, I'm sorry for your loss."

"Thank you," she turned back towards the forest before them, "so you decided to sign up too?"

"Something like that," his eyes studied her, "I'm surprised to see you here, after everything."

"I tried to stay away...but fate has other plans it seems."

"Then please stay out of my way," he walked closer towards her, "I'd hate for you to get sucked in."

Chise looked at him, "Kai are you still trying to be smooth?"

He chuckled, "Old habits die hard."

"They still die though," Dabis husky voice sounded behind Overhaul, "So I suggest they bury themselves."

"I don't take orders from you," he glanced over his shoulder before looking back at Chise, "I have work to do."

She let out a long breath and folded her arms over her chest. It was going to get deadly if he was involved. She could feel his glare, "Please don't. My family was Yakuza...of course I've met him before."

He rolled his eyes, "Of course you have."

Her eyes snapped to him as she slowly turned, "I suggest you tread lightly before you make your next comment."

"Or what?"

Chise tilted her head as he was sent back against the wall of the house, pressed firmly against the wooden structure. She had never used her quirk like this on him before, but today was the day to test her. She was in anger on her grieving journey, making her sharp and quick tempered. Dabi couldn't breath. It was as if the air was pulled from his lungs. His body screamed at him, but he couldn't move, not even summon a single blue flame. She sauntered up to him, "I tolerate a lot...I mean a lot." Her hand pet his dark hair, "What I will not tolerate is someone insinuating I'm a whore...or easy...." The invisible grip on his body tightened, "or weak..."

She released him, her green eyes watching him catch his breath as his blue orbs glared into hers. He reached out and jerked her to him. He wound his hands into her hair and pulled their lips together in a deep kiss.

"Do not ever do that to me again," he leaned into her ear, "Or I will kill you."

Chise ran her hand up his neck, her voice was just as quiet, "No, you won't."

She removed herself from him and walked back into the house. He lit a cigarette and chuckled. She was going to be a handful, testing her limits now that she had decided on her path in all of this. It was hot, the way she didn't hesitate to subdue him, challenge him, and correct his behavior. She'd pay for it later.
