"Baby," I call for Chris. I keep my head in my iPad as I wander down the hall.

"Can you look at this?" I briefly look up and find that he's in his study.

"Babe." I whisper-yell once I'm standing in the doorway.

"Huh?" He asks, eyes glued on his computer screen.

I push off of the structure and roll my eyes. "Nothing." I sigh.

"I'm busy, baby." He states the obvious.

"You always are." I mumble angrily, starting to walk away.

"No, no, no," He calls after me, pushing his work to the side. "Come here."

I saunter to him and plop down in his lap.

Chris kisses my shoulder and caresses wherever he can. "What's up?"

"Nevermind, it's work stuff, and I see you have enough of your own. What's this?" I hum, eyeing a particular blueprint.

"Nothing," Chris tells me fast, hiding it away. "That's nothing, babe. Uh, how was your day?"

I change the subject from the drawing of the house and sigh. "Fine. I still feel like I'm in way over my head, but I don't want you to tell me 'I told you so.'"

"I would never.... But I told you so." Chris makes me laugh.

I playfully smack my lips and tousle his new haircut.

I'm not happy he cut the mane, but he decided it was time. I'll miss those long, gorgeous locs, but I guess this is right - a more "mature" look. I just love the long hair, the way he wears it pulled back, the man-buns, and the one Superman/ 'Uncle Jesse' curl in the front.

"You know Jas still hasn't taken you off her hit list, right? Me either." I give Chris a hard time.

He vibrated his lips. "She just hates me. You, on the other hand, I can apologize to."

"Don't. You already have, like, four times. It's fine-"

"It's not, though. It was your night and I made you upset, you didn't deserve that."

"Do you understand why I was upset?" I emphasize.

He can apologize a million times but it means nothing if it's not followed by changed behavior.

Chris only nods to my question.

"The drinking," I state. "I want it to stop. Or, lighten up at least. I know you hate bringing it up, but your dad was an alc-"

Chris cuts me off. "I'll stop. Is there anything else?" He says.

While I appreciate the agreement, it feels as if he's only saying this to shut me up. However, I can't assume that and if I mention it, he'll think I'm crazy. There's nothing wrong with him appeasing me just to end the conversation, it's a win/win, I say.

"Be nicer to me, and everyone. Please. This is my last time asking."

"Still with this?" He kind of rolls his eyes, tongue in cheek.

I lift his chin and stare into his eyes. "You're not a mean guy, Chris, stop acting like it. For me? We haven't had sex in three weeks for a reason."

Chris furrows his eyebrows. "It's been three weeks?! Take your clothes off right now." He starts to attack me with tickles and kisses, making me laugh out loud.
