Sideswipe's P.O.V.
"Get help, Sunny!" I demanded, looking at my brother before returning my attention to Jamie.
"Frag it; let the stupid human die."
"Sunstreaker!" I demand with a pissed off look. He takes out his phone; I watch his fingers move. He better be sending a text to Crosshairs or Drift. Ratchet could help, but Jamie needs Crosshairs or Drift.
"He killed them," Jamie struggles to say.
What the frag happened to cause her to gasp for air in her sleep? To scream before that? I'm afraid to move her, but she needs medical attention. Not even five minutes pass before Crosshairs and Drift come running into the room.
"Move!" Drift demands. I get off the bed and watch him crawl onto the bed. Sitting on his knees, he puts his hands on Jamie's shoulders. He has to know what he's doing. What could be wrong that she's gasping for air, but Drift doesn't feel the need to rush Jamie to the medbay? Crosshairs wants to talk to me, but I think I know what terrified Jamie. He needs to show her he's ok. Crosshairs sits on his knees by the bed and takes Jamie's hand.
"Let the stupid human die."
Sunstreaker walks out of the room and down the hall. Unsure if Crosshairs and Drift need my help or want to talk about this once Jamie is ok, I stand in the hallway by the room, leaving the door open in case they tell me to get Ratchet while trying to figure out what could have scared Jamie like this. There has to be something Crosshairs and Drift left out when they asked Sunstreaker and me to watch her. There's no way she's been dealing with this for three months, and now they decide she needs to be here. It's hard to think, listening to Jamie struggle to breathe.
Two minutes pass before Jamie isn't gasping for air, but she's hyperventilating. I ask Crosshairs if I should get Ratchet, but he says no. This isn't the first time they've dealt with this, which concerns me. Crosshairs tells me this might be a while so I can go to my room, but I can't wait until morning to discuss this. I'll sit in the hallway for hours if I have to. Besides, I won't be able to sleep until I know Jamie is ok.Jamie is quiet ten minutes later, which scares me. Looking in the toom, Drift holds her as tears roll down her face.
"She dead yet?" Sunstreaker asks.
"What the frag is wrong with you?"
"She was gasping for air. What else is that supposed to mean besides she's dying?"
"I don't know, but they knew what the problem was and what to do to help her."
I didn't think Sunstreaker would have looked in the room before walking away. I watch Drift try to lie Jamie back in bed, but she has a tight grip on him. Drift has to lie with her. Crosshairs assures Jamie he'll be ok before getting her to let go and walking out of the room."What the hell happened?" He asked as he closes the door.
"I don't know. She was sleeping when she screamed and started gasping for air. When she finally woke up, she struggled to say...," I trailed off, afraid of how Crosshairs would react.
"What did she say, Sideswipe? That could be
important."
"What's going on?" Ironhide asks as he walks towards us.
I explained what happened, and just as I was about to repeat what Jamie said, Sunstreaker joins us. Trying to get him to leave will raise suspicion, and I won't spare him from the rath Crosshairs, and Ironhide will give him.
"What did you do?!" Crosshairs rages as I expected.
"Nothing; why are Sideswipe and I having to babysit this stupid human?" Sunstreaker fumes.
This pissed off both Crosshairs and Ironhide. They looked at each other, unsure if they should tell Sunstreaker and me something. Sunstreaker walks away, which might be a good thing. I have no idea why he keeps coming back, to begin with.
Crosshairs enters the room but returns less than a minute later and sighs.
"I know this won't make sense to you since you didn't spend much time with Jamie before N.E.S.T. was terminated or afterward until she hid most of us from Cemetery Wind and since you had to stay in hiding when the TRF formed. It's a long and complicated story. Our original plan was to have you check on Jamie periodically while we're on patrol for a couple of days until Jayce came by and informed us of a serious problem," Crosshairs sighed, "Jamie has been thinking suicide-."
"You're right; it doesn't make sense. How the frag is a military base safe for someone in that mindset?"
If Drift wasn't with Jamie, I would have rushed back into the room.
"It's hard to explain, but it's ok. Everyone who knows about Jamie's struggle agrees this is what she needs even with the new development," Ironhide assures me, "observe her or even spend time with her and you'll understand."
"There's also a vast library of records on everything she's done the past nineteen years and some about her life in her dimension."
"Nineteen years? Isn't she twenty-seven?"
Crosshairs nods and goes back into the room.
"Don't stay up all night, though you'd need several days to review everything, maybe weeks. Watching her would be better," Ironhide says before walking away.
I would like to look at the records, but if I don't return to my room, Sunstreaker will be pissed.
Walking down the hall, I realize Crosshairs didn't tell me what caused Jamie to struggle to breathe. I need to remember to ask him tomorrow.Crosshairs's P.O.V.
Drift had fallen asleep with Jamie. Both lying on their side, Drift hugging her. That's what he had to do to get her to relax and fall asleep? What the frag scared her?
Even though it's two in the morning, I worry Jamie will wake up terrified again. Not like I can prevent that, so I go to sleep.Sideswipe came by before his patrol, concerned about Jamie. He didn't seem to like seeing how Drift was sleeping with Jamie. Doubt he knows those two are kind of together. I had to tell him three times Jamie is fine before he left.
Drift, and I talk about what happened with Jamie as she sleeps.
"I should have requested to stay with her," Drift regrets.
"No doubt Optimus would have understood and agreed, but you know Jamie would have told you to return with Bumblebee, Hound, and me. Though chances are even if she didn't take this turn downhill mentally, you know she has been sad and missing you."
"Either way, she doesn't say anything. Luckily Jayce knew what to watch for. Sad, humans don't pay attention until it's too late, at least in Jamie's dimension."
"I don't think she would have been different even if we were with her in her dimension or just me," Drift says depressingly.
What can I say? The fact he thinks the one who loves him would still consider ending her life regardless If he's with her all this time is troubling. What does he think Jamie dealt with while we've been here? Luckily I'm not a sociopath like Sunstreaker and can restrain myself from killing Jamie's asshole family. Jamie has a love-hate relationship with her family, but I know if any of them got hurt, ended up in the hospital, or died; she'd be devastated. Taking her away from her dimension for a while is the better option.Optimus comes by ten minutes later. He insists on a meeting about this, looks at Jamie, concerned, and leaves.
We get Jamie to stay with Bumblebee, so Drift and I can talk to Prime. We figured Ratchet would be there as well. Maybe Lennox, but we didn't think Sideswipe and Sunstreaker would be a part of the meeting. This will likely turn into arguing
