Ch. 11 Regret

Sunstreaker's P.O.V.
It's been three days since I've seen Jamie. Not even Sideswipe knows where she is. We both see Crosshairs and Drift throughout the day, so we can rule out that she left, or so I thought until I heard Crosshairs and Drift talking.
"...back to Cade and Vivian's home in the U.K.," Drift says sadly.
Why not their home in the U.S.? Why are they leaving, period? And if they're leaving, then Jamie is going with them. Just my luck. Should I even say something?
"Would this even help?" Crosshairs asks, "she's fragging terrified of Sunstreaker. She'll say she's fine but can't hide it."
I've heard enough; I walk away and find Sideswipe at the other end of the cafeteria.

"What's with you?" Sideswipe asks.
"Later..."
I want humans to be submissive towards me, but hearing Crosshairs say Jamie is afraid of me hurt for some reason. After what I saw three days ago, I know she's afraid to be with Sideswipe. It sounded like Crosshairs and Drift are planning on taking her to England, so where has she been? Are they seriously letting her live in their room? 

Twenty minutes pass before I see the two mechs go into the kitchen and leave twenty minutes later with a plate.
"Sideswipe, come with me," I tell my brother.
He follows without question. 

I stop the two mechs before they enter the room. Both not looking pleased that I followed them.
Drift tells me what I thought he and Crosshairs were planning; they're taking Jamie back to England for a while, and they already have approval from Prowl and Prime.
This won't work now.
"I thought you wanted to tell them something?" Sideswipe asks.
I ignore him and head back to our room. I'm sure he'll tell Crosshairs and Drift if they don't already know what he's talking about. It's too late. They're not going to let me near Jamie now.

Sideswipe comes back to our room ten minutes later. He tells me he lied, and I wanted to ask where Jamie has been. I was right; she's been living in their room. Sideswipe had a hard time talking to Jamie. This doesn't sound like the femme I watched three days ago or the one who worked hard to hide us.
".... there's no way they'll let you near her. I had to leave before asking who's been watching her overnight," Sideswipe finishes, "she kept telling me to leave before you find out where I was. I hate the look I saw on Crosshairs and Drift's faces."
"I'm sorry," I apologize, which I rarely do. Even Sideswipe is surprised, "I-I don't know much about Jamie, but watching her three days ago; I feel like you're right. It might have been good for both of us to be friends."
"It's still possible, but you - I mean, we will have to talk to Crosshairs and Drift. You know they'll have to be involved."
"And you know they hate watching Jamie struggle. Why else are they going to Cade and Vivian's home in England and not the U.S.?"
"Maybe that's where Cade and Vivian are at the moment? It's been eighteen months since Jamie saw them, Izzy and Tessa. I doubt they'd have a problem with Crosshairs, Drift, and Jamie staying at their U.S. home," Sideswipe sits on my bed and hugs me, "we'll talk to them when they return. In the meantime, you should read those files."
"Fine," I sulk.
"It'll help," Sideswipe assures me.
I leave our room and go to the sane private computer room Sideswipe went to when he looked at Jamie's records. I put them on my phone, but it's more complex than Sideswipe texting me the files.

Drift's P.O.V.
What a fucking disaster, but having Jamie stay in her dimension wouldn't have made much of a difference. The only difference would have been not watching Jamie be afraid of a fellow Autobot and having nightmares. It wouldn't have been much better.

I carry Jamie to the hangar as she sleeps. Nights have been rough to the point where Crosshairs and I no longer have patrol. I didn't think a newcomer, Bluestreak, would have volunteered to take our place. There's no need for two Autobots to be on patrol at once, I think it's just turned into Crosshairs, and I are assigned as a team — most of the time.

We cross paths with Sunstreaker on our way to the hangar. I'm furious at him. Couldn't just leave Jamie alone, fragging aft? I don't care how displeased he looks. I don't care if I sound more like an overprotective father than Jamie's guardian and boyfriend; that aft can stay the frag away from her.

Crosshairs' P.O.V.
It's rare to see Drift angry, never mind furious. I don't blame him because I'm also furious at Sunstreaker. Watching Jamie struggle the past three days has been hard, and nights have been challenging. I don't know if it's good we've dealt with this several times before, and not just with Jamie, so we know how to help her, or hate we've dealt with this so many times.

We didn't think Ratchet and Prime would be waiting for us.
"I know you two are furious at Sunstreaker," Optimus starts as Drift puts Jamie and our bags in his alt mode, "I believe Sideswipe is right, but now things will be more complicated."
"We will have to take this slow," Ratchet adds.
"No, Sunstreaker can go frag himself!" Drift rages before getting into his alt mode and driving off into the portal ready for us that closes five seconds later.
Optimus and Ratchet know what Jamie has been dealing with. I hate how they asked me to record what we've been dealing with and her complicated history. They've thought about this before telling me Sideswipe is right about Jamie and Sunstreaker being friends.
"This is supposed to be a trip to help Jamie. You don't have to while you're away, but I'd like you two to think about it," Prime tells me before the two walk out of the hangar. I use my smartwatch to open a portal, get into my alt mode, and drive through the portal.

The portal brings me to the driveway of the house. Drift already put Jamie in her room and took care of the bags. 

"He's pissed," Vivian tells me as I walk into the kitchen, "he wouldn't tell me what's going in before going to his meditation room."
Cade, Izzy, and Tessa walk into the kitchen. I'm telling them why we're here without Drift.
