Crosshairs' P.O.V.
It's been hard watching Jamie struggle with the poison and Drift having nightmares. I'm glad Lightning goes to her room at night and doesn't see this. I know I can't keep her from seeing this forever, but I'll keep finding ways to keep her from seeing Drift having nightmares for as long as possible. I hate how terrified he gets from these nightmares. Rarely does he panic once he wakes up, but this has been routine for the past five days.
Jamie has been getting stronger as the poison clears out of her system, but it's not something to celebrate, knowing what's to come.Drift, and I have talked about going through with this or leaving the device in. We might never know how many rough days Jadin caused but considering what Jamie's mental state was before the explosion, which Jadin caused to implant the device; we suspect Jadin wasn't the sole cause of the majority of Jamie's rough days.
I don't like Drift's expression seeing the three medics walk in at seven in the morning. Add Lightning is with them. She sits on the bed Drift sits on and hugs him. Tears roll down his face before Ratchet says anything, but it's obvious when he and Jolt are dressed for surgery.
"You know I wouldn't if the alternate route wouldn't hurt Jamie," Ratchet reminds us.
Drift knows the mental attacks Jadin can do and how much more of a challenge Jamie will become. Of course, Ratchet can't ignore what complications Jamie could face. He could've chosen not to tell us, but he'd feel more guilty not telling us, and Jamie suffers a complication. Now Lightning is upset. The three medics look displeased, knowing I'm trying to be strong for my sister and best friend. Optimus walks in, informing everyone that a meeting to inform the others has been set for a few hours from now. I know he thought of not telling everyone, but they'll ask questions no matter the outcome of the surgery. Additionally, he's hoping we'll have a bigger support team, especially for Drift.
Drift kisses Jamie before Jolt and Ratchet take her to the operating room. Drift hugs me as he cries. This is why I need to hide how I'm feeling. I have Drift lie on the bed and move a chair by the bed. The others watch, uncertain how they can help.Drift cried himself to sleep. Lightning hugs me, knowing I'm not ok. I don't care. I'm getting a lecture from my leader, sister, and Jasmine. They weren't there during the nightmare situation, seeing what Drift dealt with. We all struggled, but it was rough for him.
"I don't care! He'll be more of a wreck knowing my pain!" I argue.
I know Drift knows I'm not thinking situations like this are nothing. I'm amazed he has yet to lecture me.Optimus Prime's P.O.V.
I don't think anybot or human will understand how Crosshairs and Drift feel about Jamie when she's struggling mentally or dealing with a flare-up. Now this situation knowing Jamie could die or have brain damage. I sometimes wonder if they feel like her adoptive sires even with Drift's romantic feelings towards her. Though I know, Crosshairs got Lightning to consider Jamie, her sister. However these three see their relationships with Jamie; they do all they can to show Jamie she's loved.
"You know the harm in holding back your feelings," I remind him, "to the point where you'll be talking to Rung. How's that better?"
Lightning has Crosshairs go with her to get breakfast.
"I see what Ratchet meant by I'm needed even though I am not trained to do brain surgery," Jasmine sighs, "I don't know how much help I'll be with emotional support."
She gets a blanket for Drift before going to her office.
"Jamie will be ok, Drift. You know she's a strong fighter."
I leave the medbay to prepare for the dreaded meeting. The Autobots can't believe what I'm saying, even the ones who've faced Jadin before or those who came to Earth while she was on our side.
"Uh, perhaps not a much better subject, but does that mean his aft goes to Diago Garcia?" Ironhide asks, pointing to Sunstreaker.
Some bots agree with him, and some agree with my reasoning that Sunstreaker still has a chance. The bots who disagree will not change their mind if I remind them about Sunstreaker's relationship with Lily.
Sunstreaker sits in silence, but I can tell he's uncertain about what he can do even after I told him he still has a chance. It's a long five hours before the surgery is complete. Three hours trying to keep Drift calm. Eventually, Crosshairs leaves the room and hides in another room to cry. He wasn't pleased I caught him, but I left him alone.
We all don't like seeing Jamie in a medically induced coma and on the ventilator, but we know Ratchet wouldn't make this decision if it wouldn't help Jamie's recovery. Even if Ratchet believes three days should be enough, it will still be rough for Jamie's guardians and sister.
Sunstreaker's P.O.V.
Sideswipe and I walk into the room, seeing Jamie on the ventilator. Only Drift and Lightning sit by the bed. I don't know what to say or if I should stay. Lightning quickly has me sit by the bed while she and Sideswipe stand behind me and Drift. I take Jamie's hand — waiting for Drift to scold me — but uncertain what to say."I don't know what I can do," I tell Sideswipe as we walk down the hall.
"I think sitting by her will show you are worried about Jamie. It's not your fault this happened."
I could say this is my fault. Mirage thought to have Jamie go with him to get her away from the base for a while. Who knows if he would have asked her to join him otherwise. Who knows how Jamie will be when she wakes up. What a fragging disaster.
