Ch. 38 Trap

Mirage's P.O.V.
Jamie finally told me something; in return, she's having an anxiety attack. Fearing her guardians aren't safe. I'm able to call Drift and put him on speaker. I hate watching this and hearing Drift trying to help while on the phone rather than being here. It's a rough ten minutes before Jamie is calm. I didn't think Crosshairs would call her. With Crosshairs distracting, I leave the room with my phone.

"....she blurted out all that after you ended the phone call with her." I explain, "it's what we want — well, not exactly blurting it out — but I definitely didn't want to watch her go through an anxiety attack."
Drift is not pleased with what happened, but like me, he's happy Jamie said something even if she didn't want to. I'm waiting for him to tell Jamie to return to the base, but instead, he tells me he will talk to Prime and Ratchet about this and hangs up.

I go back into the room and lay on the bed with Jamie. She's still upset but relaxed.
I don't like how your personality is changing. I know you would be happy on this mission right now. Though you'd be missing your guardians, you wouldn't be worrying about them. 
I couldn't get Jamie to do anything. At least she fell asleep without any problems.

Jamie's P.O.V.
It's time I leave; Sunstreaker has shown me I've been a fool. I should have ended this the second we discovered I was sick with a condition that can sometimes be deadly. I'm leaving as soon as Mirage and I finish our mission. I doubt Mirage arranged to meet this guy to be given information. We will need to find this guy, but Mirage has an idea where this guy is. I'm only here to serve as the lie detector. Anything to get away from Sunstreaker.

I didn't think Drift would text me;
Drift: good morning. We're ok. I don't like how you are this worried about us. We'll be ok. Focus on the mission.
I don't text him back or call him. I didn't know Mirage was up until I felt his hug. 

Mirage's P.O.V.
This is worse than I thought. All from a nightmare about Sunstreaker killing her guardians, and his personality doesn't help.
I'm confident Jamie will be able to brush this aside when we leave to find Colin, but I need to talk to Prime about this when we return.
I take Jamie downstairs to get breakfast, hoping she'll eat something. I'm working on two cases here, but I am at a standstill with this one. At least the case I've been working on for months is getting better answers and leads.

We're on our way to our destination an hour later. There's a building humans think is abandoned, but there's an underground section used by a gang. Unfortunately, Colin is in this gang. We need to get into the meeting that's happening today. 
"There's our guy," I point out our target; I buff, brown-haired man.
The back alley is dark enough for me to transform and get a better look in the building.
"I can sense how many people are below," Jamie tells me.
"Oh?"
Before she can jump off me, some force pushes us through the fake wall.

"What the frag? Humans don't have that kind of technology!" I rage.
"But humans who worked with Cybertronians know how to make something like a holographic wall," a femme answers.
That voice, scrap.
I watch Jamie stand up, ready for a fight.
"You know, I wasn't sure if I wanted to have others work for me like Megatron, but it's made getting to you much easier, and I have someone here too, hopefully, send your dead body back to the idiots who can watch you fade away from this dimension."
Jadin finally reveals herself, along with Colin and Steve.
"You too?" Jamie asks, surprised.
"Victoria had no idea, but her choice to befriend you made our plan easier," Steve explains before he and Colin go down to the hidden level.
"How are you a spy, Mirage? You fell for such an easy trap. Trusting a gang member," Jadin laughs, "this is your fault; you can deal with knowing you caused Jamie's death....if you survive."
She throws a bomb in the middle of the building. One that goes off the second it hits the floor.

Ratchet's P.O.V.
To be alarmed about fading Energon signatures is never good. Add that it's Mirage's, and I can't contact him. I can get his location. Sunstreaker and Prime are with me. We may risk going to Mirage's location with a small team, but Mirage's Energon signature is fading fast.

We didn't think the ground bridge would take us to a destroyed building.
"This is the result of a bomb," Prime observes.
We locate Mirage, who's badly damaged.
"Jadin.... Jamie...."
"This was a trap," Sunstreaker says angrily, "you two get him to the medbay; I'm going to find her."
Prime doesn't bother arguing about getting more Autobots. It would be smart, but with Jadin, there's no time to get reinforcements.
Find her quickly, Sunstreaker.
