Chapter 15

Dino is staring at the walls shocked. He didn't expect this news, deffinetly not at this moment. The doctor had been so positive when he called, only to tell them that they have lost Hoshi. Dino doesn't care about the fact that he's sitting on the floor with his back against the wall and that everyone is looking at him strangely, he just wishes that this is one big nightmare. Suddenly, a little girl taps on Dino's shoulder. Surprised, the brunette looks up. The little girl is staring at him confused and it seems like she's all alone.
"Why are you sad?" she asks. Dino stares at her confused, he didn't expect a little girl to ask him such things.
"Well, I-" Dino stops for a second to think about what he should say. Maybe he should just be honest with the little girl.
"I lost a friend." he says sighing. The little girl pouts and places her hand on Dino's shoulder.
"Awh, I hope that you will find him soon." she says with a big smile. Dino chuckles, this girl is so genuine.
"That reminds me of him, you know?" Dino says while pointing at a little stuffed octopus the girl is holding. She looks at him confused, so Dino decides to explain it.
"He likes octopuses. He once said to me that my arms were octopus tentacles." the girl stares at him in short silence.
"But they aren't!" she giggles. Dino chuckles as well.
"I know! It was pretty weird." the conversation is getting interrupted by a woman running to them.
"Oh god, Amelia! I told you, don't talk to strangers!" the woman shouts accusing. Dino signs to her that it's okay and Amelia runs over to the woman.
"I have to go, my mom is already back from her check-up!" she tells excited while she waves at the brunette. With a sad smile, Dino waves back while the girl and her mom leave the hospital. It makes Dino wonder where his own parents are. It's unusual for them to ghost him like that. Maybe he should go to the police station to ask where his parents are. Stop being so silly, Dino! Your parents are fine. He tells himself. Suddenly, someone clears his troath right next to the brunette to get his attention. Once again, Dino looks up, but now he sees a doctor standing next to him. Quickly, the brunette gets up and wipes the dust off if his clothes.
"Sorry to bother you, sir, I just have some things I would like to discuss with you." he says formal. Dino nods and he follows him to a small room somewhere in the hospital.
"You're not Hoshi's roommate, are you?" the doctor asks when the two males are seated.
"No, I'm not. I'm his friend." Dino answers sad. The doctor nods and places his hand on the table.
"I have to inform you that Hoshi can't be buried yet, the police wants to have his body for their investigation." Dino's eyes widen while listening to the male in front of him.
"What? Why?" he asks surprised.
"This is a murder, the police will have to find the person who did this." the doctor explains calmly. Dino is getting quite nervous, he knows that Stray kids did this, but is it smart to let the police know? They will probably wonder how Dino has that information and the brunette will not be able to explain it.
"Speaking of the police, they have just arrived. Can you come with them so they can question you about that night?" the doctor adds while two cops enter the room. Dino flinches briefly, the police is probably the worst place to go to, but Dino has to stay under the radar, which means that he can't be suspicious at all.
"Sure." he answers, knowing that this is the only option he has. Maybe he can lead the police in the right direction so they can find Stray kids. Maybe this will all be over soon. Dino follows the cops to their car and he seats himself in the back seat. While driving to the police station, Dino thinks about Scoups. The poor leader has left the hospital as soon as he heard the news, Dino is a bit worried about him to be honest. When Dino is done with the police, he will go to Scoups' apartment. It's sad to know that the black-haired male is living alone now.
"Please get out of the car." the female cop says annoyed. Dino looks up in surprise, he hadn't noticed that they already arrived.
"Sorry." he mumbles while getting out. The cops take him to another small room. They push Dino down on a chair before sitting down themselves.
"We're sorry for your loss." the male cop says.
"Thanks." Dino nods, but the female cop sighs.
"There's no time for that now. Tell us everything you know about that night." Dino blinks a few times, trying to remember everything. He starts explaining about the group meeting together, the dinner and the waiters. When he gets to the point where Hoshi gets poisoned, tears are rolling down his cheeks. Dino is still too emotional about all of this. It's too much, first Woozi, now Hoshi.
"So if I heard it right, only Scoups and Minho could have been to the kitchen. That does make them suspicious." the cops say to each other. Dino gasps in surprise.
"What? No! They haven't done this, I swear! They aren't criminals! You can't just-" Dino stands up, but gets pushed down right after.
"Calm down please." the officer says.
"Everyone can be a criminal if you push them hard enough." the female cop adds. Dino blankly stares at them, but there's nothing he can do.
"I think we are done here. You can leave." the cop says after a while. Dino walks away, but he's feeling worse than he ever did before.
