Chapter 42

After thinking for a while, Dino finally decides to enter Scoups' room, although he's very careful. The black-haired leader is clearly upset and although Dino doesn't get why, he wants to support his friend.
"Hey", Dino says softly while he sits down beside Scoups. His roommate glances at him shortly, but looks down again right after. The brunette sighs and places his hand on Scoups' shoulder.
"I'm sorry for what I said earlier. I get why you're sad now", Dino apologizes and Scoups smiles thankful.
"I don't ask you to get how I feel or why I feel like that," the black-haired male says with a raspy voice, "but I just want you to accept it, instead of trying to change it. Feelings are feelings and you can't change them. That's what I think is so beautiful about them." Dino nods understanding and the two males sit down in silence for a while.
"I'm sorry to ask and I know that it's a bad timing, but what are you going to do with the others?" Dino asks nervously, he doesn't want to trigger Scoups again. The black-haired leader sighs and runs his fingers through his hair.
"I don't know. It's all too much right now. I have seen them, so I know who they are, but I don't think that I have the strength to get them right now", Scoups mutters and Dino looks at his friend in disbelief.
"What?" the brunette asks shocked and Scoups looks at him confused.
"You can't do that!" Dino whines and Scoups sighs.
"What did I tell you about accepting how I feel?" Scoups grits annoyed and Dino rolls his eyes.
"Fuck that bullshit! This isn't about you, this is about all of us! We are a team and you have to protect it! We know who our killers are, so we have to catch them, right?" Dino looks at his leader excpectfully, but the black-haired male only looks down defeated.
"I can't, Dino." Those words are like a bomb dropping on the brunette. Angry, Dino clenches his fists and stands up.
"I don't care what you're going to do, but we are going to catch those creeps and end it all." The brunette walks over to the door, but right before he walks out, he turns towards Scoups again.
"You aren't protecting your team, Scoups. You're only protecting yourself", Dino spits as he slams the door shut behind him. He grabs his phone and calls everyone from the team to let them know that it's time to take some action. Soon after, Wonwoo stops in front of the door to pick the brunette up. Whether or not Scoups wants to end it all, his team surely will.

Dino is getting quite nervous while looking at the road. Wonwoo is still driving and Mingyu is ruffling his fingers on the backseat. It's only now that Dino realizes that this might take an eternity. They could be everywhere and no one in Scoups' group has a clue of where they might be.
"This is going to take a while", Mingyu sighs bored.
"A while? I think it's going to take an eternity!" Wonwoo scoffs and Dino raises his hands.
"I'm sorry that I had this stupid plan", the brunette mutters and Wonwoo's eyes soften.
"It's a good and logical idea. We are still in danger as long as we haven't found them. And because of Scoups, we know how they look like so I think we have a shot on actually getting them", Wonwoo comforts his friend and Dino smiles thankful.
"But we have to find them first", Mingyu crushes the mood and Dino sighs devestated. But suddenly, Wonwoo stares through the windscreen focused.
"I don't think we have", Wonwoo mutters and both Dino and Mingyu look at him confused.
"Why is that?" Dino asks curiously.
"Because they found us." Wonwoo hasn't finished his sentence yet or the windows start to break. Dino screams in fear and Mingyu slaps a hand that's coming inside the car. Wonwoo froze with his hands on the steeringwheel and within a second, the black-haired male with glasses gets pulled out of the car.
"Wonwoo!" Dino yells, but because his focus lacks, he too gets pulled out within a second. Mingyu is still inside, punching every arm that's trying to get him and god bless him because the short but brawny male is the one trying to get Mingyu. Dino is still able to hear Wonwoo scream while he tries to avoid some punches from a hazelnut-haired male. His eyes shimmer furiously and Dino is sure that they are planning to kill them.
"Mingyu!" Dino yells while the short male is forcing the door open.
"Where are you!?" Dino yells devestated, but the brunette gets knocked down and he smacks on the ground pretty hard.
"Stupid, little brat", the hazelnut-haired male spits while he turns Dino around to face him. The sun is already setting and it won't take long before darkness will surround them, but Dino isn't even sure if he is going to survive until then. The furious male brings his face close to Dino's, staring into his eyes.
"Where is Scoups?" he asks gritting and Dino sighs.
"Man, I'm starting to believe that you guys have an obsession with Scoups! Leave the goddamn man alone for once in your lives!" Dino scoffs, but only gets a punch in his face in return. The brunette tastes salt and notices that his lip is bleeding. He has no clue what's happening with Mingyu and Wonwoo, but they are still fighting from what Dino can still hear.
"Where is he?" the hazelnut-haired male spits angry and Dino presses his lips in a thin line.
"I don't know", the brunette states, "why do you need him?" the hazelnut-haired male rolls his eyes annoyed.
"Are you stupid or are you pretending to be? I want to show him what you get when you kill our leader! Chan didn't deserve to die and he's going to regret doing that!" the male yells and Dino tries to hide his shaking hands. Ofcourse the brunette is scared, but as long as he can keep his attacker talking, he won't be hurt yet.
"Well, uhh, technically, Chan did kill himself", Dino says and the hazelnut-haired male punches him in the face again.
"Shut up!" he yells angry and Dino wants to wipe the blood on his face away, but his arms are pinned down next to him.
"Well, you will know how painful it is when we rip your filthy leader apart", the hazelnut-haired male grins and Dino is triggered immediately. Feeling a sudden anger rise up inside of him, the brunette kicks his attacker's leg, causing him to fall on top of the brunette. Dino feels the air getting pushed out of his lungs, but he throws his body to the side, causing the two males to flip and Dino is now laying on top of his attacker. Quickly, the brunette grabs the hazelnut-haired male's arms and pins them down. Smiling, Dino looks into the shocked eyes of the male beneath him.
"So, you want to rip Scoups apart? I'm afraid that's not going to happen. Not on my watch", Dino grits and the male laying down scoffs.
"Do you really think that you're stronger than me?" the hazelnut-haired spits out and Dino looks at him confused.
"Your stupid friends are already dead, it will only take seconds before my teammates come over to help me", the male scoffs and Dino looks up surprised. Are Wonwoo and Mingyu really dead? With pain in his heart, Dino realizes that there isn't a single sound coming from behind the car. A tear rolls down Dino's cheek, he just led his friends into their own death. But suddenly, Dino feels a wave of pain inside his stomach and the brunette gets flipped around again. The hazelnut-haired male is now grinning at him once again.
"You're so stupid sometimes", the male grins while he punches Dino again.
"You're a fucking monster", Dino mumbles while he spits some blood out of his mouth.
"Maybe I am, but it doesn't hurt me, so why would I want to change?" the hazelnut-haired male smiles as he takes out a knife.
"You're getting boring, let's just end it all", the attacker says smirking and Dino's eyes widen while the knife gets placed on his troath. Fear is rushing through his veins, his body freezes and the only thing Dino can think about is how much of a failure he is. He has led so many people to their death, so maybe he deserves this. When a third guy shows up behind Dino's attacker, the brunette is sure that this is his end.
"Stop right there. Do not move", the third guy says calmly and both Dino and his attacker widen their eyes shocked. A gun gets placed against the hazelnut-haired male's back and soon Dino realizes that the third male is a cop. Relief washes over him while the policeman takes the knife away and arrests the hazelnut-haired male. The brawny male who was after Mingyu is also caught, but the third guy is nowhere to be found. Confused, Dino looks around but his eyes fall onto two males laying down on the ground. His heart skips a beat when he recognizes his two friends, their eyes are closed and they don't seem to move. Forgetting everything else, the brunette rushes over to them and kneels down next to Wonwoo. His face is bruised, but his chest is rising up and down. Letting out a relieved sigh, Dino brushes his fingers through Wonwoo's hair. At least his friend is alive.

After a few seconds, Wonwoo opens his eyes and he smiles when he sees Dino looking at him. The brunette has trouble holding back his tears but the two males are happy to see each other.
"For a second, I thought I was going to die", Wonwoo mumbles and Dino chuckles shortly.
"Me too, that knife was way too close to my body", Dino agrees and Wonwoo smiles.
"It was a gun that was pointed at my head. And I could see Mingyu getting-" Wonwoo suddenly gasps, which cuts his own sentence off.
"Mingyu!" the black-haired male with glasses yells scared and he gets up to run towards his friend, who's laying down only a few feet away. Dino looks at the taller male concerned, he is also bruised on his face and neck, and it looks like he's strangled. Wonwoo mumbles some words while he's trying to wake him up. Suddenly, in all this chaos, Dino notices someone running away. Triggered, Dino stands up and turns towards Wonwoo quickly.
"Get Mingyu some help, I'm going to catch the last one", Dino informs Wonwoo and before his friend can even react, Dino runs off to chase the last member of Stray kids. The brunette notes to himself that he's chasing someone who has a gun, but Dino just can't let this one get away. The two males are running through the woods, but soon arrive at some streets. Without even looking, the attacker crosses the street and Dino has no other choice but to follow him. A car approaches, but Dino is quick enough to cross before the vehicle actually arrives. The male in front of Dino curses, but keeps running. The brunette is getting exhausted and he doesn't know how long he will be able to keep following this guy. But when Dino finally gets closer, the guy pulls out his gun and shoots behind him. Startled, Dino almost falls to the ground, but he's still standing so he runs further. The bullet hits a wall but the guy clearly isn't done. He shoots again, but misses once more. Dino is getting scared, he will get hit by a bullet sooner or later, but he has to keep following this guy. A cop is also near, Dino can tell by the footsteps approaching him from behind. But the cop doesn't shoot back because he might hit Dino.
"Fuck you!" the guy laughs when he crosses the road. But because he was focused on Dino, he didn't notice a car driving past and the vehicle hits the male with such force that he gets thrown to the street. But with a fast reflex, the male shoots into the windshield, trying to hit the driver. The cop runs past Dino while the brunette stops his tracks tired. He watches the cop arrest the last Stray kid and ignores the gun that's still laying on the ground while he decides to walk over to the car. As he's approaching the vehicle, Dino realizes that it's Scoups'.
"Scoups!" Dino yells, scared that the guy might have actually hit him. But when he arrives at the driver's seat, Scoups is staring through the little hole. Relief rushes over the brunette when he notices that his friend is scared, but alive. Seeking comfort, Dino pulls the door open and hugs Scoups tight.
"I'm so glad you're here", Dino whispers and Scoups wraps his arms around the brunette.
"I decided that you were right, I should look after my team. So I drove here and when I saw you chasing that maniac, I thought that I had no other option than to just run that creep over." Dino chuckles at Scoups' words while he looks at the bullet, which landed in the backseat. For a few minutes, the two males just hug each other tight, but someone clearing their troath interrupts their moment.
"Can I speak with him?" the cop asks and Dino nods. Scoups glances at the brunette nervously, but Dino has no other choice than to just leave. Standing a few feet away, Dino tries to follow their conversation, but the only thing that the brunette can notice is that Scoups is really nervous. While looking at the two males, Dino notices another male picking up the gun. Turning towards him, Dino gasps when he recognizes the purple-haired male. Minho is standing in the dark night, slowly aiming his gun at the brunette.
