Chapter 21

"Answer me!" the dad yells. Scoups steps back a little and takes a deep breath in. He has to focus, these parents are too emotional right now. They're just worried about their son and they think that Scoups has to do something with this. Technically, he does. It's Scoups' fault that Dino is kidnapped right now and it's Scoups' responsibility to get him free safely.
"I don't know where he is, Mr. Lee." Scoups answers honestly. The dad scoffs and takes a step closer to Scoups.
"Why would we believe that?" he whispers and Scoups can't help but feel intimidated.
"Honey, calm down." the mom suddenly says. Her voice sounds soft and she's trying her best to stay focused, but Scoups can see the panic inside of her.
"Why would I calm down!?" the dad snaps, "He has a gun and Dino's belongings and it is clear that our son isn't on some stupid trip! He lied to us and he-" Mr. Lee stops talking because the words can't get over his lips, but everyone knows what he is thinking.
"Did you murder our son?" the mom asks, her voice trembling from fear. Scoups' eyes widen and he holds his hands out in front of him.
"No, ofcourse not! I'm Dino's friend, I would never do that!" he says, trying to convince them.
"Then what happened? Did he just dissappear?" the dad scoffs, but Scoups notices a little doubt inside his voice. Maybe he can still convince them.
"I-" Scoups stops. He can't talk about it, he's too afraid of what Dino's parents might think, but he cannot come up with a lie either. Defeated, he looks at the ground.
"I'm going to the police." The mom says firmly while she marches out of the room. Panicking, Scoups follows her while he leaves the dad alone, who's doubting if he should follow his wife or not.
"No, please don't!" Scoups yells and he knows he's not helping himself with this.
"You are dangerous! I want my son!" The mom cries out and she keeps walking towards the door. The dad finally comes out of the room as well and he gives Scoups a dirty look before he joins his wife.
"Dino is kidnapped!" Scoups yells, it's the only option to keep the parents from going to the cops. They stop and turn around shocked.
"What?" the dad asks and the mom places her hand in front of her mouth.
"Dino and I had a massive fight. I crossed the line and he saw it." Scoups starts explaining, "He was extremely mad at me. I believe that he never wanted to see me again. I tried to make it up to him but he didn't want it, he just didn't believe me. Only a few minutes after he had rushes out, I received a text message from him." Dino's parents are quietly listening to Scoups while the black-haired male tries his best not to cry. He's afraid that Stray kids has already killed the brunette like they did with his other roommates, but he won't tell the parents that. As long as they haven't found Dino's body yet, there's still hope.
"He asked for help. He was scared and ofcourse I was worried. So I rushed over as soon as I got the message but when I arrived at the location of his phone, the only thing I found was that." Scoups points at the phone Mr. Lee is still holding and the mom gasps while hugging her husband. Silent sobs fill the room while the guilt is rising in Scoups' body. He should've followed the brunette.
"Why didn't you tell us?" the mom asks sobbing.
"I didn't want to make you worry about it. It's dangerous enough out here, you know. That's why I have a gun. But I promise you that we're doing everything we can to find your son." Scoups assures the parents. As if it was a sign, Scoups receives a text message from Wonwoo.

Location found, come as quickly as you can to the dance room. Time to rescue our friend!

Scoups gasp and the parents look at him confused.
"We have a location." Scoups tells them in disbelief. The mom gasps and she wants to run out of the apartment.
"No! I will go after him, you guys stay here until I come back." he says and the dad looks at him confused.
"We want to see our son." he says firmly.
"Believe me, it's too dangerous for you guys. I have promised Dino to protect you and I would like to keep my promises." after some doubts, the parents nod and Scoups checks if his gun is inside his belt before he leaves. He hopes that Dino is still alive. He doesn't want to let someone else down and Scoups doubts if he can survive another death in his group. If someone dies today, it's Stray kids.
