Chapter 56

Abhishek and Vaishnavi left the hospital. They were in the car going home. The ride was silent. Abhishek was waiting for Vaishnavi to speak and Vaishnavi was preparing her mind to answer his questions.

Abhishek finally decided to break the silence. He looked at her to see her looking down, lost in her thoughts.

Abhishek (calmly): Can I know what was all that?

Vaishnavi (nervous): Umm... I was 18 when one of Mr Sinha's friend's son lost his kidney because of regular drugs. His kidney matched mine. So...

Abhishek: You tried to protest?

Vaishnavi sat quietly for a few seconds.

Vaishnavi: No... It was useless. I knew whatever he wants he will do even if I will protest. So, I agreed without any arguments. I am sorry for creating problems in your life. I am sorry.

She said holding her tears back. Abhishek sighed.

Abhishek (holding her hand): It's not your fault. Everything will be fine. Don't worry.

Vaishnavi (wiping her tears): Umm... Abhishek don't go for a kidney test. I mean it's my fault. I don't want anyone to face problems because of me. I am not that important in anyone's life anyway. It was my wish to die soon. I guess it's time to complete it. Plus, It's not even 3 months since we met. So, I guess there won't be any effect if I will die. So, let-

He parked his car with a jerk. Vaishnavi got scared.

Abhishek (angrily): Don't you dare to complete it. And if you guys have to leave me alone then why the fuck you are coming into my life. Leave me on my own. Also, because someone created problems in your life. Why you are punishing me? Mr Sinha was the reason for your problems, not me. I am trying my best to solve those. To bring a new life into you. Still, you are punishing me. Fine, you don't matter to others that much but what about Reemi? What's her fault in all this? Are you blind or what? Vaishnavi mumble sorry as tears roll down her cheeks.

Abhishek (hitting on the steering wheel): Fine this is your wish then let's just complete it. After all, this is your life. Let's tell everyone you are completing fine. Because I won't be able to share the truth like this.

He said those words. His words were screaming how hurt he is. He started driving again.

Then the whole ride was silent. Once, they reached. Abhishek came out of the car. He walked towards Vaishnavi to help her. But she was feeling so weak to even walk. Abhishek took her in bridal style but not even glancing at her for once.

Vaishnavi (with guilt): I am so sorry Abhishek.

But he was damn hurt to even listen. They reached home. Reem and Avneet saw them.

Reem (giggle): Maa...

Avneet (concerned): Is everything alright?

Abhishek: Yeah... Let me drop her in the room.

Avneet (not satisfied): Ah! Haan...

Abhishek took Vaishnavi in the room. He lay on the bed.

Vaishnavi (requesting): Listen to me, please

Abhishek (sigh): What do you want me to listen to? Galati meri thi jo main kuch expectations rakh raha tha tumse. But I forgot Reem meri beti hain. Don't worry main sambal luga meri beti ko. You don't need to bother about it.

He went out to see Avneet standing at the door.

Avneet: Kya hua? Or jooth bolne ki koshish bhi ki to seedha thapad padega.

Reem who was with Avneet. She peeped inside to look at Vaishnavi.

Avneet: Tu baith main Reemi ko Vaishnavi ke pass chor kar aayi.
