Kenzie's POV

"Nick!" I squealed as he came through the door. I ran to him and hugged him.

"Hey, kiddo," He said, ruffling my hair.

"Hey," Mom said, coming from the kitchen. "You're just in time. Dinner's almost ready."

The three of us sat down around the table with spaghetti and meatballs on our plates. I made sure to get less than Mom and Nick. I'm supposed to eat less than the adults anyway, right?

"It's really good, Demi," Nick said.

"Thanks. Kenzie did a lot of it."

"Good job, Kiddo. We have two cooks on our hands now."

"Yeah, she cooks better than me, I'll tell you that," Mom laughed.

"Nick, can't you cook?" I asked.

"Yeah, but that doesn't mean that I want to," he chuckled. "But seriously, this is really good."

"So how's preparing for tour?" I asked. I really didn't want him to be gone so long, but it's his career. My mom does it, so I understand.

"Honestly, it's really stressful, but I love it anyways." I nodded in understanding. "Are you gonna miss me?" I nodded again. "I'm gonna miss you, too, kiddo. And your mom. I miss you two every time you leave on tour." He was looking at my mom now. She smiled at him, and he smiled back. "But it won't be too long. I'll be back before you know it." He continued to finish his dinner, and so did Mom and I.

After dinner, we all sat in the living room and watched TV. We were watching a crime show that my mom likes a lot, Criminal Minds. I was sitting between Mom and Nick, and before I knew it, I fell asleep on Mom's arm.

I don't know how long I was out, but I felt myself being picked up. "Say good night to Nick," Mom said.

"Bye, Nick," I said while giving him a hug.

"Bye, Kiddo. See you next time."

"I'm going to put her to bed, then I'll be right back down," Mom said. She carried me up the stairs to my room.

"Am I getting too big for this?" I asked.

Mom put me down on my bed and pulled the covers over me. "You'll never get too big." She kissed my forehead. "Good night. I love you."

"I love you, too."

Demi's POV

"I love you, too," Kenzie said before drifting off to sleep. My baby will never get too old for me to tuck her in at night. I returned downstairs where Nick had been waiting. "I'll see you later, then," I said.

"Yeah. Thanks for dinner tonight. Next time I should cook, and you two should come over."

"That's fine with me. As long as you don't poison us," I joked.

"No poison, but it might come out a little burnt," he chuckled. "Good night," he said before opening the door and leaving. I locked it once he left, then went upstairs to get ready for bed myself.

Morning came quickly. I guess I had a really good sleep. I went down stairs to find Kenzie already watching TV. She was in the clothes she had on yesterday, as she didn't change before bed.

"How about cereal this morning?" I suggested, already in the kitchen.

"Sure," Kenzie responded, not looking away from the TV. She's always loved TV. I went into the living room with the two bowls of already poured cereal and milk. "Thanks," Kenzie said as she took a bowl and spoon. "Mom, can I ask you something?"

"Of course, anything."

"Do you like Nick?"

The question caught me off guard. "Well, yeah, I like him as a person."

"No, do you like-like him?" She pushed.

"Why so curious all of a sudden?"

"I saw the way he looked at you last night, and the way you looked back at him when he said he missed you when we're gone."

"He said he missed you, too."

"But he didn't look at me the way he looked at you. There was looooooove in his eyes," Kenzie said, drawing out 'love.' "And you had looooooove in your eyes, too."

"Would you quit saying it like that?" I laughed at I slightly pushed her side. She just giggled. I love her giggle so much.

She did make me think though. Did I like Nick? As a more than a friend kind of way?
