Demi's POV

I gently stroked Kenzie's hair as she was still sleeping. Last night  was scary for me, but I think she was even more terrified. I know she would have trouble at the sleep over. She always has to stay near me after a bad dream like she had a couple of nights ago.

It's so weird, though. She hasn't had any issues like this in so long, and then suddenly it happened again.

I looked down and her eyebrows started to furrow. She scrunched up her nose and kept her eyes closed tightly. Another one?

"Kenzie, shhhh, Kenzie," I said softly, trying to wake her up before it got worse. I pulled her close into my arms and gently rocked her. Somehow, this worked. She gasped before letting out sobs. After a while, I looked down at her. She was gripping my now tear stained shirt. She slowly looked up at me. I wiped her tears away and kissed the top of her head.

"What's with these dreams all of a sudden?" I asked.

"I don't know," she whispered back. "But I wish they'd just stop."

"You have no idea what might be causing these dreams?" She shook her head silently. She's hiding something. I can tell.

"What happened last night?" I asked.

She shrugged. "His voice. It just wouldn't leave me alone. I got scared."

"You did the right thing by calling me," I told her. She nodded and rested her head back down on my chest. I pulled her in closer, and we snuggled together for a while.

I didn't understand what was happening. Why was my baby having all of these problems again?

Let's eat, yeah?" I asked. She nodded again. We both made our way back down into the kitchen. I started scrambling some eggs when my phone rang. "Can you get that for me?" I asked.

Kenzie got up and found my phone. "Mom, the number is unknown."

She gave me the phone and I answered it. "Hello?"

"I want my daughter back."

I quickly hung up the phone and put it down. My heart pounded. No no no, it can't be him.

"Who was it?" Kenzie asked.

I forced a smile. "No one, just a salesperson," I lied. With all of these problems coming back to haunt Kenzie, no way was I going to tell her who it was. "Breakfast is ready." We sat down at the table with our plates. My phone rang again, and before I even had the chance to think about it, I answered it. "Hello?" I asked, instantly regretting that I answered.

"I meant I want to see my daughter again."

I glanced at Kenzie, then stopped before she saw me. "I don't think that's going to happen."

"Can we just meet again? I has some issues in the past, but I'm fine now."

"I don't think that's a good idea."

"Come on, I just-"

I hung up before he could finish his sentence.

"What was that?" Kenzie asked.

"Just a little issue with management," I lied again. "It's taken care of."

I go back to school tomorrow! I'm so stressed!!

I like my school and all, but the beginning alas way makes me so nervous.

I'm going to be an upper class man ghhaaaaa
