Kenzie's POV

How could I be so stupid? I just left the blade on the sink where it can easily be found. What an idiot!

I still have four others that came from that razor. They're in the top drawer of my dresser under the clothes. I need to make sure I put them there from now on. If Mom finds another one, she'll definitely know something. She'll know I lied to her.

I hated lying. I almost told the truth, but I backed out. I wouldn't want to know her reaction to the truth.

I'm terrible for lying to Mom like that. She'll definitely hate me if she ever finds out.

Demi's POV

Kenzie was quiet the rest of the day. So was I. Something just told me she wasn't giving me the full truth. I didn't know what to do, though. I don't want to be that mom who is always so nosy and paranoid about nothing, but I really don't want Kenzie to be hurting when I know there's something I can do to help. But I can't help if I don't know the truth.

She might be telling the truth. I dot know why I have so much doubt. I should be able to trust her and believe anything she says.

But I've just got a bad feeling.

"Kenzie, dinner's ready," I called from the kitchen.

"Actually, I'm not that hungry," she said as she walked into the room. "I'm really tired. I think I just want to go to bed."

"Are you feeling alright?" I questioned.

She nodded in response. "Yeah, I'm just tired."

"Well you can go to bed after dinner."

"But I'm not hungry."

"Kenzie, you barely ate breakfast or lunch. You need a full dinner," I said sternly. She sighed. "Kenzie, why don't you want to eat?"

"It's not that, I'm just not hungry. I just want to go to bed," she explained.

I thought about what I should do for a moment. Should I make her eat, or let her skip a meal in hopes that everything is okay? At the moment, I wasn't convinced that everything was Okay.

"Eat dinner, then you can go."

Her face was full of disappointment as she sat at her place at the table.

She ate rather quickly, then put her dishes away.

"Good night," she said as she headed towards her room.

"Kenzie, wait," I said as I stood up. I walked up to her and wrapped my arms tightly around her. "I love you," I said quietly as I held her in my arms.

After a while, she pulled away. "I love you, too. Goodnight."

Why was she in such a hurry to go?

After a few moments, my thoughts were overw helm ing me with the possibilities of what could be happening. I decided to go check.

I knocked on her door, and there was no answer. I knocked again.

"Um, hold on," Kenzie yelled from the other side, almost in a panic.

I twisted the knob to find it locked.

"Kenzie, are you alright?"

"Yeah, I'll be there in a second."

Soon, she opened the door, and some of my relief went away.

"What's up?" She asked.

"I-um." Great. Now I have to make up an excuse as to why I was checking on her. "I just wanted to remind you to brush your teeth."

She gave me a strange look. "I always brush my teeth."

"Good, keep up the good work. Goodnight."

"Goodnight," she said, still giving me a questioning look. She shut the door, and I went into my room.

Well that wasn't awkward at all.

Kenzie's POV

She knocked as I was cleaning up. I didn't mean to do it tonight, it just happened. My thoughts kept reminding me that I lied to my mom, and I had to shut it up.

I very carefully put my blade back in the drawer, and closed it as quietly as possible.

And all Mom wanted to do was remind me to brush my teeth. She was acting strange.

I didn't think about it too much. It wouldn't do me any good.

So I just crawled into bed and hoped tomorrow would be a better day.
