Kenzie's POV
After I had settled down a bit, Mom invited Nick over. It was strange because he's never come over on a week night before. I'm glad he was able to come, though. He always knows how to make me feel better.
As soon as he walked in, I ran to him and gave him a huge hug.
"Hey, Kiddo," he said with a chuckle.
"Hi, Nick," I responded, breaking the hug.
Mom walked in from the kitchen. "Who's ready for dinner?"
If I'm being honest, I didn't want to eat. I felt like I'd already eaten so much that day. I was too scared to tell mom that I didn't want to eat, so I just pushed those thoughts as far away as I could. I couldn't get them out of my head, though. All through dinner, those pictures of me looking huge kept popping up in my head.
"Kenzie, are you okay?" Mom asked. Both of them were looking at me. That's when I realized they were both done while I had barely eaten anything.
"I'm not very hungry," I said. My heart started to race. I don't know why I was so scared to tell Mom that.
Mom and Nick exchanged glances. "You've had a long day," Mom said. "It's okay if you don't want dinner tonight."
That really surprised me, but I wasn't going to pass this opportunity to not eat. "Thanks," I said with a small nod.
As Nick and I watched TV, Mom was looking for a way to homeschool me. She was researching tutors for me. I'm so happy she's not making me go back. It had been the worst day in a very long time.
As my head was resting on Nick's shoulder and his arm wrapped around my shoulders, I eventually fell asleep.
Demi's POV
Kenzie had fallen asleep, so Nick carried her to bed. When he came back, he turned the TV off and joined me by my laptop. He stood behind me, wrapped his arms around me, and kissed the top of my head. No one has said anything, but I'm positive we both know that we're pretty much dating by now.
"How's it going?" Nick asked.
I sighed. "There's a lot of choices out there. I need to make a decision."
"It's late. Should you call it off for tonight?"
I shook my head. "No, I need to do this for Kenzie. I think I have some options, but I want to be able to talk to them. I'm going to write down their information, then call them in the morning."
"Sounds good." Nick found some paper and a pen, and wrote down everything I told him. "There has to be a good choice in these. There's a lot. I should get going. I have a meeting early tomorrow morning."
"Alright, thanks for coming over."
"Thanks for inviting me. I like spending time with you two girls." He smiled his smile that always made my heart flutter. I followed him to the door. "Good night," he said.
"Good night," I responded.
He kissed my forehead before walking out the door.
