Kenzie's POV
Dinner was terrible, away least for me. We went into public, ad as I ate, I felt like they're were a ton of eyes on me, judging me. I was so nervous for some reason. As a result, I didn't eat much, causing Mom some concern. She made me eat half of my plate, which took quite a while, while Nick just sat there awkwardly. I tried saying I wasn't hungry multiple times, but Mom wouldn't give up. As I are slowly, I felt humiliated. Nick was seeing this, and again, I felt everyone's eyes.
I didn't speak the whole way home. I was mad at Mom for making me eat like that. I felt so uncomfortable, and she made me do that.
We made it back home, and Nick decided to come inside for a while. I went straight back to my room, not saying anything to anyone.
It wasn't long before I heard a knock on my door. I opened it to see Mom. I rolled my eyes and turned my back, heading to my bed.
"Kenzie," Mom started as I kept my back towards her. "I know tonight was rough, but it was necessary. Don't be upset with me for trying to help you." I have her no response, so she sighed and left.
Not long afterwards, another knock came, making me irritated.
"What?" I asked towards the door. The door opened, showing Nick's face. I sighed, feeling guilty for yelling.
"Your Mom says you're pretty upset," Nick told me as he sat on my bed next to me. I didn't respond. I didn't know how. Yes I was upset with Mom, but I didn't want Nick in the middle of it all. "You know she was just trying to help."
"How? How could of that helped me? It was embarrising," I admitted.
"You don't understand now, but you'll be grateful later." I gave him a confused look. "Your Mom knows what she's doing, Kenzie. You have to trust that."
I sighed, and he stood up. "I'm gonna go ahead and go home." He opened his arms for a hug, so I stood up and gave him one. He held me tightly, just like I imagined a good father would do. "Good night."
"Night."
I stood there, trying to figure out what he was trying to tell me. Be grateful? For humiliation?
I then remembered something very important.
I reached in my back pocket and pulled out my five new blades.
Demi's POV
"It'll be okay," Nick assured me.
"I hate it when she's upset with me."
"How did you feel towards the people who were helping you at the rehab center?" Nick reminded me.
I sighed. "I was furious."
"But you learned to appreciate. Kenzie will do the same."
I nodded, knowing Nick was probably right. He always is.
We said our goodbye's, then he left. I went to check on Kenzie before going to bed. I knocked on her door, but there was no answer. I opened her door and saw her laying on her bed, sleeping. I decided not to disturb her, so I closed her door and went to bed.
Kenzie's POV
After I finished, I got Ito pajamas and went to bed. Not long afterwards, I heard a knock, knowing it was Mom. I faked asleep when she opened me door, so she left quickly.
I didn't want to talk to her. At least for a while, anyway.
I was really sick today, so I stayed in bed and wrote a bunch. So here's an early update.
