Kenzie's POV

The second day of school started, and it was about the same as the first, except we started doing actual work. It was still pretty easy, though. I just hate waking up so early! I'm always talking with Clarissa, since most of our classes are together. There was just one thing I was nervous about today, and that was choir. We were actually going to sing today. I just don't want to make a fool of myself! Both Clarissa and Mikayla are in that class. I still don't see Clarissa's problem with Mikayla. She seems so nice.

Clarissa and I walked into the choir room together and took our seats. We chatted until our instructor, Mr. Gatston, showed up.

"Who's first?" Mr. Gatston asked the class. Mikayla immediately raised her hand, and he motioned for her to stand up. "What do you want to sing?"

"Bang Bang." Mikayla answered.

"Of course," Clarissa mumbled under her breath, which surprised me, but I could help but smirk at her reaction.
Mikayla sang, and it was pretty good. She looks like the type who could sing. She's just one of those teenagers that seem to be perfect at everything.
Clarissa went next. She sang Good Girl by Carrie Underwood. I thought Mikayla was a good singer, but Clarissa was amazing! She was perfect! It made me even more nervous to sing. I didn't sing until everyone else did. It eventually came down to me.

"Ms. Lovato," Mr. Gatston called to me. "What will you sing for us?"

I slowly stood up. "Um, Jar of Hearts by Christina Perri," I answered quietly.

"Well I hope you sing louder than you speak. Whenever you're ready."

I took a deep breath, and started the chorus. I tried to ignore everyone else in the room by closing my eyes. After the chorus, I went into the bridge and the end of the song. Right when I finished, the bell rang, not leaving any time for Mr. Gatston to give me feedback. Everyone left, including me.

"Wow, that was incredible!" Clarissa said as we headed towards our next class.

My face was still red from nervousness. "Really?" I asked, doubt clear in my voice.

"Seriously, you're a great singer. Where did that voice come from? Like, you're all quiet and timid, and then you sing like that! I'm impressed."

"Well whatever it sounded like, I know it couldn't have been better than yours. You sound amazing."

"Thanks, but you need to stop doubting yourself."

I shrugged as we continued to walk.

"How was your second day of school?" Mom asked as I got in the car."

"Pretty good."

"And choir? Did you sing?"
"
"Yeah."

"And?"

I shrugged. "The bell rang before the instructor could say anything. Clarissa said I did good, but I still don't know."

"I'm sure you did amazing. By the way, we're going to Nick's for dinner. He's leaving on tour this weekend, and he'll be too busy the rest of the week for us to hang out with him."

"Great! I'll miss him, though," I admitted, thinking about how long he'll be gone.

"I know, I will, too."

So this sucks... But it's past midnight and I can't sleep so I thought I'd update.
