Kenzie's POV

I woke up in the middle of the night with my heart racing. I had just had a dream. It was different than the others. Instead of a memory, this was something I'd never seen before. My dad came back, and was talking to my mom. They made some sort of deal with each other, and my dad took my away. I was screaming for Mom, but she would even look at me. As soon as we left the house, my dad started beating me. Her seemed to be coming in all directions. As that was it.

It took me a while to calm down again. I had to realize again that Mom would never let me go back with my dad. She hated him as much as I did. I crawled out of bed and made my way into her room. I climbed on her bed and got situated under the covers. I snuggled up close to her, and she absent-mindedly wrapped her arms around me. I was then able to fall back asleep in her arms.

Demi's POV

I woke up to notice my arms were wrapped around Kenzie. I don't remember when it happened, but I didn't mind. I pulled her in closer, and she started to wake up. "Good morning, baby."

"Good morning," she responded with a yawn.

"I have to start calling different tutors this morning."

"Oh yeah," Kenzie said, remembering that she will now be homeschooled.

I got out of bed and made both of us breakfast. "How late did Nick stay?" Kenzie asked.

"Not too long. He had a meeting this morning."

After breakfast, I immediately started calling up tutors. A lot sounded really unorganized with their schedules, and I crossed those off the list first.

It was more difficult than I thought it would be. I would homeschool her myself, but I don't know anything about teaching.

After awhile, it was time for lunch.

I went into the living room to get Kenzie, but she wasn't there. I went to check in her room, and she seemed to be asleep in her bed. She opened one eye, then very quickly closed it, confirming that she was awake.

Kenzie's POV

I tried to act like I was sleeping so I wouldn't have to eat, but I opened my eyes at the wrong time. I sat up slowly and yawned while rubbing my eyes, trying to make it look like I had just woken up. I don't know how good of a job I did.

"Kenzie, it's time for lunch. Do you want to go somewhere to eat?"

"Um, sure," I responded. I was too nervous to tell her no.

"Alright, I'm ready whenever you are."

I got out of bed, brushed my hair out, then changed out of my pajamas.

I walked into Mom's room, where she was just finished putting her shoes on.

"Ready?" She asked.

I nodded in response.
