Chapter 7: Friends with a Plumber

(Third Person POV)

Night begins to fall upon Brooklyn and many people start to head to bed. As a certain light blue van pulls up to an apartment building, the Mario bros exit their vehicle, carrying the blue kid as Luigi locks the car. Upstairs at the top of the building, a family of Italian-Americans lived peacefully under one roof. Luciana (Lucy) Mario and Maurizio Mario were wondering where their two sons went after their eldest stormed out due to his announcement of quitting Wrecking Crew. Arthur Mario dusted the countertops of the sheep antiques and his wife, Marie Mario, tucked their daughter, Nicola Mario, into bed to get her off the PlayStation while Tony Mario was cleaning up the kitchen table. While Maurizio's father, Stefano Mario, was fast asleep, Lucy goes to find her sons.

"Luciana, where do you think you're going?" Maurizio asked.

"To find our boys, Maury, I don't like this." Lucy said.

Maury rolls his eyes.

"Lucy, they know what they're doing, they're fine."

"You sure about that, Amore?"

"Lucy?" Arthur asked.

She looks at her brother-in-law.

"Arty, I'll be fine, just keep dust—"

The door swung open, Mario carrying something while Luigi had the tool kit with him.

"Make way! Make way!" Luigi said.

"Uncle Tony, get the first aid kit! This kid is bleeding from the knee! The wound has to be disinfected!" Mario said, placing the "kid" on the table.

The family was shocked to see what Mario brought in.

"HOLY— what the hell is that?!" Tony exclaimed.

"It looks like an anthropomorphic animal!" Arthur added.

"I honestly think it's a hedgehog." Luigi said.

Mario checks the hedgehogs temperature and it turns out the kid doesn't have a fever of any sort. He just seems pretty banged up from fighting those robots. Luigi takes the kid's brown satchel and hangs onto it.

"Mario! Why did you bring that thing into our home?!" Lucy asked.

"He was getting attacked by those robots from the news, I had to save him." Mario said.

Mario overheard a tiny mutter and groan from the hedgehog's lips. Maury and Luigi listen to what the kid is muttering in his sleep.

"Nnn.... Dad.... I want my dad...." Sonic muttered, softly.

As Tony gets the first aid kit and hands it to Mario, he pours a bit of hydrogen peroxide onto a cotton ball and dabs it onto the open wound on the kid's knee. Foam fizzes from the gash and Mario patches it up with a bandage.

As the family finds a photo in his hair, Mario unfolds it to find the blue hedgehog, his two siblings, and Tom and Maddie in the photo, happy. Did Maddie... adopt these creatures? If that's the case, Mario will return her son tomorrow morning. Honestly he's not gonna mind sleeping on the couch. As Mario finished explaining the situation to his family, they'll let the kid stay till morning. Luigi plugs in the kids phone, places his bag next to his phone, and Mario placed the blue hedgehog in his bed. Tucking him in, Mario pats his head.
