Chapter 11: A Day in Brooklyn

(Third Person POV)

As the sun rose, the citizens of Brooklyn get out and start their day with either a cup of coffee, a morning jog, or heading over to work. But for a family from Montana that's on vacation, the only thing on their minds is sleeping in. As a certain little hedgehog sleeps, holding his Nezuko Kamado plushie, he begins to have a strange dream... and it wasn't the nightmares he had before about the unseen monster.

~~Dream~~

He was back in that endless sunflower field. Why is it that every time he dreams of this place, that unseen monster comes and terrorizes him? Not once in his dreams has he ever gotten a clear look at the creature. What did it want from him? Why was it even in his dream anyways? As he runs away from the unseen monster, he trips to see the sunflowers rotting. Cowering in fear, he curls up into a ball, expecting himself to wake up. The unseen monster reaches out for the little blue hedgehog, but before it could grab the child, a bright light shines out of nowhere, putting itself between the unseen shadowy monster and the hedgehog. He tries to get a good look at what this light is but he squints his eyes, barely getting a glance at the figure. Suddenly, it felt like wind was pulling him away, saving him from this horrid dream. As he was being swept away by the wind, he heard a gentle voice.

"Forgive me..... please, forgive me..... they will protect you... I swear...."

~~Dream Ends~~

Tails wakes up to hear Sonic muttering something in his sleep. It's been three weeks since they started vacationing in Brooklyn, and these dreams the hedgehog keeps having are a mystery. Tails gets out of bed, concerned for his brother.

"... who... who are..... you...?" He mumbled.

What was his brother dreaming about? Tapping Sonic's cheek, Tails' ears flop down. Once he slightly opened his eyes, Sonic is wide awake and gets up as Tails backs up.

"Tails? What are you doing?"

"I heard you muttering something in your sleep so I wanted to see if you're alright. Did you have that nightmare again?" Tails asked.

"Sorta... but it was different this time. Something... defended me from the unseen monster."

"Do you know who it was?"

"No... it felt strange though. I think in time I'll figure out who it was." Sonic said.

"Okay. Now let's get up! Let's make mom and dad breakfast! Hopefully Knuckles didn't beat us to the bathroom again." Tails said.

Sonic puts his Nezuko plush on the bed. Since last week, Tails wanted a Demon Slayer plush collection of his own, so he got the plushies of Doma, Rengoku, Shinobu, Mitsuri, and Gyutaro. The deaths of those Hashira members were the ones that made Sonic cry the most when he read the manga. Although he isn't ready for those deaths to be animated when the Hashira Training Arc begins. The hedgehog and the fox enter the kitchen of the apartment to find Knuckles cooking waffles! The brothers hear footsteps from down the hall. The first thing Maddie and Tom could hear after walking out of the bedroom was loud sizzling from the kitchen. Must've been Sonic cooking breakfast for the family. Last time Sonic cooked, it didn't end well and got out of hand. They walked into the kitchen to scold him, only to see Knuckles flipping some pancakes, standing on a stool. Maddie and Tom gasped.
