Chapter 31: Karts!

(Third Person POV)

Everyone begins to exit the arena. Tails and Knuckles were carrying DK while Sonic, Tom, and Mario were looking at a worried Princess Peach. As Peach begins to process the ordeal she just experienced, she begins to hyperventilate so slowly that her blood vessels began to narrow and she stressed out about what could've happened. And just like that, she suddenly fainted.

~~Dream~~

Peach recalls a lost memory... one of Queen Aleena. She remembers holding the adorable little blue baby who was sleeping peacefully in her arms. Peach hears the footsteps of Aleena approaching her, with a plate of pancakes in her hands.

"Here, I brought you some breakfast Ms. Peach."

"Thank you, Lady Aleena."

The queen noticed her baby sleeping peacefully in the girl's arms.

"Aw, he's sound asleep. Thanks for watching him. My guard Longclaw should be on her way soon. But I must apologize, I feel bad, making the acting-princess babysit." Aleena said.

She sits down with Peach as the placed down the breakfast and Peach returned the baby to Aleena.

"It's okay, really. I'm sure raising a child is not an easy task. Heck if I ever wanted a child, I'd raise them right. I think once I reach eighteen, I'll become their queen after this "acting-princess" stuff." Peach said.

"Don't say that. You're too young to be a queen! Believe me, I know what that's like. When my mother passed away from her illness when I was ten, it was hard to rule a civilization! You have to wait till you're ready to be a queen. For now, aim for that princess goal." Aleena encouraged.

Peach looked to the Mobian Queen, and then she looked at the little blue baby. She smiled as the baby smiled back at her.

"Oh, I think Sonic likes you. But I doubt he'll remember you when he gets older. But remember this about ruling a kingdom: always put the safety of your people first. It was makes you a confident person." Aleena said.

"I'll try..."

~~Dream Ends~~

"I'll... try..." she muttered.

Peach slowly came back to reality when she felt a small stump poke her cheek. She sees the Wisps and Luma's surrounding her, when she opens her eyes, they float back a bit. She bolts out of bed in surprise to find herself in the hut from yesterday. She relaxes her breathing to see Sonic sleeping in a hammock with Tails, Knuckles, and Tom watching him, making sure the kid is recovering from his burns. Mario eats a green mushroom to heal his injuries.

"Mario..?" She asked.

"Oh! You're awake! I got worried." Mario said, relieved.

Tom, Tails, and Knuckles turn around to see Peach is finally up.

"What... what happened is... where's... Bowser?" She shuddered.

"He had to retreat and you passed out from stress after the whole ordeal." Tails explained.

Peach remembers what happened back there. The very thought of it sent chills down her spine and she huddled her knees to her chin, wrapping her arms around her legs.
