Chapter 34: Amends Inside an Eel

(Third Person POV)

As the ringing in his ears finally came to a close, Tails woke up and came to his senses. He was greeted by the smell of dead fish and rotten seaweed when he found himself in an unfamiliar area. It even reeked too as the walls were dripping with some icky substance. Not only that, but he quickly figured out what was going on when the walls started... breathing.

Tails sees pieces of Rainbow Road scattered throughout, bits of DK's and Mario's Karts everywhere, and to top it off, some dead piranhas were in there too. He only managed to find his vehicle still in one piece. He tries to remember what happened before... and then it came back to him.

"Aw, crap." He said.

There was no doubt about it. They were inside the eel's stomach. This must be how every tiny person feels when their biggest fear becomes a reality. Not to mention this must be how Eren felt in Attack On Titan in that one episode.

"Mario? Mario! Donkey Kong? Where are you?" Tails called out into the seemingly endless stomach.

Everywhere he walked, he felt his shoes squish through the eel saliva that was all over the floor and coated the walls. Tails turns around to see two silhouettes nearby. He sprints closer to find an unconscious Mario sleeping on a pile of bricks and DK slumped against the icky walls of the eel.

"Mario! Get up!"

"Wha—ACK! Ow, my head... Tails? What's going on?" Mario asked, concerned.

"We got eaten by a giant eel is what's going on!!"

Mario sniffed, and gags at the scent of the icky mucus dripping throughout.

"No, no, NO!!" This isn't how I wanna die! I haven't even had a bachelor party yet!!!" Mario exclaimed.

"That's what you're worried about? Really?"

"Sorry it's, we gotta find... oh god... where's the baby luma?!"

Mario hears a coo not far from him and he turns around, digs through the rubble, and finds the little apricot star baby in the cushion of his broken kart.

"Kid! Oh, it's okay. It's okay. You're alright, I gotcha. I gotcha."

Mario gently strokes the Baby Luma's head, comforting it. Not far from them, they hear a familiar groan, emerging from the rubble.

"Oh great!" DK moaned out of annoyance.

"Could you not for five seconds?!" Tails said.

"Yeah, at least be happy we're still alive. And that means all of us." Said Mario.

"Psh, no. It's your fault we're in here, Mario. I thought I was gonna get a moment of peace, but nope. You ruined everything." DK said.

"You know what?" Mario hissed. "I've had it with you blaming me for everything! Including picking on Sonic and his brothers!"

"So what?! That fox is weak! He can't even use his fists, he has to resort to weapons in battle!" DK taunts.

Feeling hurt by the words, Tails speaks up, angrily.

"I'm not weak! I'm smart, confident, strong, and intelligent. You lack so much brain matter that all your common sense floats on water!" Tails yells.
