As promised, Aryia had taken me out for dinner a few days before Christmas. Since moving to LA to go to university and pursue my music career, I had always loved eating out at Saddle Ranch but now that I was pregnant, I loved it even more.

I went with my go-to order: well-done ribeye steak with a side of fries and had shared a large glass bottle of water at the table with Aryia who had ordered the same as me and we'd shared some cotton candy for dessert. I was surprised that we could both stomach so much food, although it had been a while since we had both gone out on a dinner date and admittedly, we did deserve to treat ourselves. And as always, the food was amazing and the company was even better.

"So, are you ready for your next Christmas surprise?" Aryia asked after paying for the meal, something he didn't have to do but was still incredibly generous and sweet of him.

"Next surprise?" I asked, receiving a nod. "I don't think I've even got used to the first one."

He let out a light laugh. "It'll be fun, trust me."

"I do. So, what's the surprise?"

"Oh, you'll see." He smirked as we left the restaurant and got into his car.

Despite not letting me in on the whole surprise, Aryia did hint at it a few days after I'd first asked him what he was planning and while he hadn't given me the full details of what was going on, he'd let me in on the fact that we were going somewhere and told me to pack a bag of warm clothing and the fluffy slippers he had bought me this time last year. Though as soon as I saw him type an address into his car satnav, I knew that it would be a fun trip.

Seven and a half hours later, we arrived at our destination. It started to get dark when we were eating dinner at Saddle Ranch and by now it was pitch-black outside. I'd fallen asleep around halfway into the drive and Aryia hadn't woken me up even once. Apparently he'd driven over a bit of a rocky ground though I had only shifted in my sleep slightly and had barely paid attention to the small change in terrain and we hadn't needed to stop for a break even once.

I blinked my eyes open when he gently shook me a few moments after parking the car. "Hmm?" I asked before realizing we'd arrived at our destination. "Morning."

"It's the middle of the night, Sunshine." He laughed.

"What time–" My eyes immediately flicked to the dashboard clock which read 10 minutes past midnight. "Holy shit! How long was I asleep for?"

"Just over five hours."

I put my head back on the headrest of my seat "Holy fuck. I'm not gonna sleep tonight."

Aryia laughed when I turned to him. "Sure you will." He smiled. "C'mon, I wanna show you the surprise."

I eagerly exited the car, closing the door behind me, though I didn't expect the colder temperature now that we weren't somewhere with heating. It wasn't something Aryia couldn't fix however as he immediately came up behind me and wrapped his patchwork fleece around me, rubbing my arms to help me warm up.

"Better?"

I nodded, face flushed pink from the cold. "Thank you."

"So, what do you think?" He asked, hugging me closely.
