"You'll see"

Semi's POV

The day of Ushijima's birthday party had finally arrived, and I found myself surrounded by the lively atmosphere of the celebration

Tendou and I were talking with Ushijima when I couldn't help but notice Shirabu's absence

"I don't understand why we're having a birthday party," Ushijima remarked with a hint of self-consciousness. "Aren't I too old for this?"

"You can never be too old for a party!" Tendou exclaimed, his excitement infectious. "Now, get your ass on the dance floor! You too, Eita! No point in waiting for Shirabu; he'll come sooner or later." Tendou eagerly pulled both Ushijima and me towards the lively dance floor

The party was in full swing, with a sea of people, music blasting, and the smell of drinks filling the air

Tendou, Ushijima, and I found ourselves caught up in all the dancing but moments later I lost them

Amidst the chaos, Tendou tapped me on the back and gestured towards the table where my old guitar was placed. "Hey, Semi, play us some tunes!"

"Right now?" I replied, slightly taken aback by the sudden request

"Yes, right now!" Tendou insisted with his enthusiasm.

I grabbed the guitar and made my way upstairs to find a quiet space to tune the guitar

Entering Tendou's room, I discovered Shirabu sitting on the bed, holding a beer bottle in his hand

"When did you get here?" I asked, momentarily startled by his presence.

"About half an hour ago," Shirabu replied, sounding somewhat distant. "It's a bit too loud down there, so I needed a few seconds away."

"Why didn't you tell me?" I asked, confused

Shirabu took a sip "You don't need to know where I am all the time"

Feeling kind of pissed off, I replied without thinking "We're dating"

"Fake dating" Shirabu corrected me

I made my way and sat next to him, placing the guitar on my lap

"I'm going to perform soon. Come down and watch me," I suggested, hoping to change this conversation

"Okay," Shirabu responded with little enthusiasm

I glanced at him, noticing the lacklustre response. "What's wrong?"

"It's just too loud," Shirabu sighed, seemingly drained by the noise and the crowd

With a smile, I replied, "Well, I guess we can take a rest up here for a while."

Curiosity got the better of Shirabu as he observed me tuning the guitar. "What are you doing?"

"I'm tuning the guitar," I explained, my fingers deftly adjusting the tuning pegs "By twisting these, I can make sure each string produces the right sound."

"How do you know if it's the right sound?" Shirabu inquired further, him getting interested

"I have perfect pitch, I guess," I replied casually, not giving too much thought to it

"That's cool," Shirabu said, a hint of admiration in his voice. "Why are you so talented? Why can't I have an amazing hobby?"

A smile formed on my lips as I gazed at him. "Are you drunk?"

Shirabu chuckled, denying it. "No, this is my first bottle."

Glancing around, I noticed two empty bottles on the floor beside him. "I'm going to guess those aren't Tendou's."

Standing up, I took hold of Shirabu's arm. "Okay, I'm taking you home."

"No! I don't want to. The night's still young," Shirabu protested

"You're not even at the party" I countered

"I just need a break" Shirabu sluggishly replied

"You're a grown-ass man, you should know better," I insisted, guiding him downstairs

Before we could make our way out, Tendou intercepted us. "Semi! Oh, hey Shirabu. Semi, are you going to perform now?"

"I need to take Shirabu home; he's really drunk," I explained, trying to make Tendou read the room

"He'll be fine. Take him later," Tendou countered.

"No, he-" I began to argue

"I'll be fine! Go perform at least one song," Shirabu interrupted, his voice surprisingly forceful

"My ears," I muttered, slightly annoyed. "Fine, one song only."

"Let's go!" Tendou chimed in. "Stay here, Shirabu, and don't move."

I ascended the stage and started playing my song, the crowd responding with wild enthusiasm. The energy in the room was electrifying, but my gaze kept returning to Shirabu, who remained leaning on the table, visibly intoxicated

As soon as the performance ended, I placed the guitar down, intending to reach Shirabu, but a swarm of girls surrounded me, blocking my path

"Hey Semi, want a drink?" One asked

Another said "Let's go dance Semi-kins"

And another Asked for my number

I tried my best to get out of the crowd using any excuses I had "I'm sorry, I'm taken," I repeated, trying to navigate my way through, but it seemed like no one was willing to listen

After what felt like an eternity, I finally broke free and searched for Shirabu, only to find that he wasn't where I last saw him

My heart raced with concern as I searched the entire house, eventually making my way upstairs, hoping he had returned there

Looking out from the upstairs window, my eyes landed on Shirabu, sitting on the pavement outside

Exhaling with relief, I ran out of the house and pulled Shirabu up. "What are you doing on the floor?"

"It was hot inside," Shirabu slurred, his words muddled by the alcohol.

Without hesitation, I drove Shirabu back to his house. Using the key I had always kept, despite previously claiming to have lost it, I opened his front door

Carefully, I guided Shirabu upstairs, assisting him as he stumbled along. Finally, I led him to his room and gently laid him down, tucking a blanket over him.

Preparing to leave, I stood up but Shirabu had other ideas

"Wait," Shirabu called out, his voice laced with vulnerability. "Can you stay with me, just until I fall asleep?"

A smirk formed on my face as I observed Shirabu's drunken state. "Okay."

I sat down beside him, and as he held onto my hand, I watched him fall back into sleep

God, he was cute. I wanted to hold him in my arms so badly but I didn't want to do anything to him while he was drunk

Maybe when he's sober, if only he would let me
