As Tanjiro disappeared from his spot, the dust and shrapnel were blown away. Everyone was shocked as Tanjiro was spotted behind Kokushibo, blade in hand. Kokushibo was fortunate enough to keep up with his attack. Tanjiro stood upright and slowly looked back at Kokushibo. Blood then squirted out of Kokushibo's traps. He thought, "No way... This... So the rumours were true after all. Not only does this boy go through physical changes, his physical strength improves with those changes. Killing the boy tonight will not be an easy task. If I hold him back until Lord Muzan regenerates, our victory is more than assured."

Tanjiro then leaned forward, which Kokushibo took notice of, and then lunged at Kokushibo, who lifted his blade to block the next attack. Tanjiro then tries to go for his next.

Sparks were seen before many more were created everywhere else. To the others, the battle was like a blur. Tanjiro and Kokushibo's speed were too fast for them to keep up with. But as they battled, craters were created with each blow blocked.

Tanjiro overswung, allowing Kokushibo to sweep under Tanjiro's legs and swing his sword toward his neck. Tanjiro quickly put his hands on the ground and pushed his feet to Kokushibo's chin, launching him upward after making contact. After Kokushibo landed, Kyojuro and Giyu tried to join in but were stopped when Tanjiro yelled, "No! This demon is mine and mine alone! I'm more than enough to destroy him!" Giyu yells, "Then why don't you kill him right now?" Tanjiro says, "Kill it right now? I think I'll pass on that. I'm going to make sure the rest of the demons experience hell over and over. Just as they did to all the other lives before us." Kyojuro said, "Kamado, this isn't like you! The Kamado I know would kill a demon right away without hesitation!" Tanjiro didn't say a single word back to Kyojuro but said to Kokushibo, "So? Where were we? Ah, that's right,"
