News Channel
"Good morning, Montana! We are coming to you live from the State Courthouse here in Helena and things have come down to this. It is Election Day here in our great state and we have a few races we have been closely watching."
"That's right, Margaret. Let's kick things off with the race for Governor. Now we all know-"
Oakley turned the television off as Kayce and Tate walked out of the bedroom dressed.
"Taking my advice I see?" Kayce smirked.
"You're right," Oakley was finishing the pancakes on the stove. "There ain't nothing good on the news anyways."
Kayce walked up behind Oakley, placing his hands on her hips and kissing her cheek. Oakley leaned back against him, flipping the last pancake over. He smelled like his soap and all it made Oakley want to do was pull him back into the shower. But anything like that hadn't really been in the cards for Kayce and Oakley.
"Morning," Kayce murmured.
"Good morning," Oakley turned her head and kissed Kayce's lips.
"Can y'all stop sucking face before breakfast?" Tate groaned from his seat.
"Sucking face?" Oakley asked while Kayce snorted. "Do kids still say that?"
Tate rolled his eyes but went to sit down at the table and sip on his juice.
"Are you okay?" Kayce whispered. "You left the bed last night for a while."
Oakley had left the bed because she woke up crying again and didn't want to wake Kayce. She had gone out to the living room where Tate had been and sat down with him for almost an hour, just watching him sleep.
It was getting harder to hide the lack of sleep from Kayce. But Oakley smiled at him and shook her head.
"Yeah, just woke up and couldn't go back to sleep," She shrugged. "Just went and checked on Tate, laid with him for a little bit."
"Wake me next time," Kayce murmured against Oakley's ear. "Maybe we can suck face?"
She giggled, handing him the plate of pancakes to take over. The three of them sat down and ate breakfast. Tate was staying with them today because of the election. Oakey didn't want him uncomfortable at school for any reason no matter what the results were.
"What are we doing today?" Tate asked, his mouth full of pancakes.
"We're gonna take Oaks to go vote," Kayce said.
"Have you?" Oakley asked Kayce and he shook his head. "Are you?"
"Don't know," Kayce shrugged. "I'll see how I feel when we get there."
"Who are you voting for?" Tate asked Oakley.
"What do you think?" Oakley asked instead of answering. "Who would you vote for if you could vote?"
"I think I'd vote for Grandpa," Tate nodded.
"Your grandpa would be a fine governor," Oakley took a sip of her coffee, feeling Kayce's hand on her knee under the table.
"I just don't know Uncle Jamie that well," Tate shrugged, and Oakley found comfort in his honesty about the reason behind his pick.
"Do you have to go into the office?" Oakley asked Kayce.
"Figured it'd be better to stay away today," Kayce looked at her. "I think my team is tired of all the reporters and photographers trying to see if coming to my office will somehow tell them who's gonna win."
