Oakley was trying to see if she could get a better look out of the guest bedroom upstairs in the main lodge. She knew Jamie was currently up at the North Camp, unloading his things. He hadn't come by, nor had she ventured out there...per Kayce's request...but that didn't mean Oakley wasn't curious.
"Baby?" Speaking of Kayce, Oakley looked over her shoulder to see him standing in the doorway. "What're you doing?"
"Uh..." Oakley looked down at where she was kneeling on a short dresser in front of the window. "Dusting?"
"You sound crazy, you know that?" Kayce walked over with a smirk on his lips. "Look kind of crazy too."
"Blame me for being curious," Oakley flipped around and sat down on the dresser, Kayce coming to stand between her knees.
"Let him have some time," Kayce said, rubbing Oakley's thighs.
"I am," Oakley shrugged. "But technically...he is moving onto my land too now. I can ask and look and speak to whomever I want."
"Oh? Now everything is yours?" Kayce chuckled.
"Oakley Dutton," Oakley held out her hand. "Not sure if we've met?"
"We've met," Kayce pulled her closer to him by her hand held out. "It was my name you were screaming last night."
"Kayce!" Oakley pushed him away as he was laughing.
She hopped down from the dresser and followed Kayce out of the guest bedroom. Tate was at school and the twins were asleep for their morning nap as they ventured into the kitchen for another cup of coffee.
"Not that I don't love this," Oakley smiled as Kayce handed her a cup. "But why are you here?"
"You don't want me here?" Kayce asked as he poured himself a cup.
"I love that you're here, I always want you here," Oakley said. "But you're hardly ever here in the mornings...so I was just wondering?"
"Just thought it'd be good to be here," Kayce shrugged but he didn't meet Oakley's eyes.
"You were worried, weren't you?" Oakley asked.
"I'm not worried," Kayce leaned back against the counter.
"Then why are you here?" Oakley smirked.
Kayce looked at her for a few seconds.
"Because I'm allowed to make sure that my family is okay," Kayce smiled. "I just don't...want-"
"Anything to happen?" Oakley walked over to where he was standing.
"Our track record ain't that great, baby," Kayce laughed.
"I guess not," Oakley sighed.
They both stood there for a few minutes, enjoying the quiet and each other's company. Oakley looked over at Kayce who was staring into his coffee mug.
"Do you want to invite him for supper?" She asked.
"Do you?" Kayce asked.
"I want to make you happy," Oakley smiled, reaching up and brushing some of Kayce's hair back behind his ear. "I could make some pot pies?"
Kayce leaned down and kissed Oakley's cheek.
"You know we're standing in Gator's office?" Kayce asked her.
"I can still cook," Oakley shrugged.
"Oaks..." Kayce gave her a warm smile. "I know you can, and there will be times I want your cooking...but for things like this, let Gator cook."
