Early posting because I can't take it :)
Morning of the Wedding
It was quiet in the house.
Oakley knew part of the reason it was quiet was that Tate was at the main lodge with John. Even though there was that stupid saying the bride and groom shouldn't spend the night before their wedding together, Oakley wanted to be right next to Kayce. Nothing about their wedding had followed traditions so why start now?
It was also quiet because alarms weren't needed this morning. Due to the ranching ways, even if you didn't have an alarm, that didn't mean you slept in too late.
It was close to eight when Oakley opened her eyes. The sun was already peeking through the curtains and casting weird shadows along the bedroom walls. She needed to get up, but the strong arms around her were just too damn comfortable.
"Morning," Kayce's rough voice whispered into her ear.
"Is it not a good one?" Oakley smirked, rolling onto her back as she looked over at Kayce.
"It is now," Kayce's eyes were sleepy still as he smiled at her.
Oakley let out a quick giggle, turning so she could fit herself into Kayce's chest better. Kayce held her to him, his hand wiggling under Oakley's shirt so he could rub her back. Oakley took a deep breath.
"We're getting married today," She said softly.
"Oh, is that today?" Kayce joked.
"Do not test my limits today, Dutton," Oakley smiled up at him. "I will kill you."
"You're about to be a Dutton too," Kayce said. "I'd be careful if I were you...threatening anyone in the family."
"Your family doesn't scare me," Oakley rolled her eyes. "I would have run away years ago if y'all did."
"Good," Kayce leaned down and pressed his lips to Oakley's. "You'll fit right in just fine then."
Oakley wrapped her arms around Kayce's neck as he rolled over her more, deepening their kiss. Oakley's knees bent around Kayce's hips as her hands tangled in his shorter locks. She had made him get a haircut, so while still long, Kayce's hair didn't resemble a shaggy dog right now. Oakley knew he'd trim his beard too for today.
"We have to get up," Oakley sighed as Kayce kissed down her neck. "Beth will come in here and grab me...she's threatened much worse."
"I don't care," Kayce mumbled against Oakley's chest, his lips kissing a line between her breasts as he pulled the shirt down.
Oakley tugged on his hair until his face was above hers again.
"I know," Oakley giggled. "But we both know she'll kill us if we aren't where we need to be on time."
"That courthouse is sounding more and more like the direction we should have gone," Kayce sighed but smiled down at Oakley.
Oakley leaned up and pressed a chaste kiss to Kayce's lips. She then wiggled out from under him, standing up and stretching her arms out. She looked over her should at Kayce who was still laying down on his stomach, smiling up at her.
"Thought you just wanted me?" Oakley smirked.
"S'all I've ever wanted," Kayce yawned, and it made Oakley's heart flutter.
"Then we need to get going," Oakley smiled and walked into the bathroom.
An hour later and both of them were dressed and downstairs pulling their boots on. Oakley would be going over to the main lodge to meet Beth and her mom, while Kayce would be headed to the foreman's cabin. There, he'd meet John, Rip, and Tate.
