It was raining and the red haired young woman was standing outside the door of the Yosano's house. She had been waiting for hours, trying to work up the courage to knock and explain everything. She knew Yosano was hurt and all she could focus on was finding a way to make Yosano forgive her.
Every night had been torture for the last few weeks.
The same sequence of events were repeating itself over and over again. She laid awake in bed, her mind was racing and her body was tense until the early hours of morning. When she would finally pass out, her sleep was filled with strange, fragmented dreams that left her exhausted in the morning. Every night seemed to be more difficult than the last and she had no idea how to break this cycle. She was desperate for an escape from this torturous situation, but she just could not find the answers she needed.
She was so despaired by this that she wanted to do anything to make it right.
She felt so helpless without having someone to support her or she could reach out. She had no one to ask for an advice to make things between her and Yosano right and what she could do to put the situation between them back to normal.
She was alone and it felt like a burden that she needed to carry herself.
She wanted to express her feelings to Yosano and apologize for the hurt she had caused and she needed to find a plan by herself even if she doesn't have anyone's support by her side.
So, she refused to give up and hatched a plan. She got up early that morning and drove to Yosano's house. Although it was pouring rain outside, Kouyou was too determined to give up.
She was even willing to beg Yosano for forgiveness if it was necessary...
Her bare skin was exposed to the chilly rain and her heart was beating in anticipation and despair. She knew it was risky, waiting for her beloved Yosano at such an ungodly hour, but she really had to find a way to make her forgive her.
She was drenched from the rain but she refused to leave, determined to fix the hurt she had caused. Finally after hours of standing and thinking about what she would say, she got a text to her phone.
Little Butterfly 🦋: Go to your home, you will get sick.
My Bubble Tea🧋: I won't go until you listen to me.
Little Butterfly 🦋: I really don't want to talk right now.
My Bubble Tea🧋 : Then I will wait until you want to talk. No matter how long it takes.
Little Butterfly 🦋: You are really crazy...
Finally, the door opened.
Yosano stepped out and gasped at the sight of Kouyou and the intense rain around her. She began to speak but no words came out. Kouyou saw the hurt in Yosano's eyes and it broke her heart.
"I'm sorry..." Kouyou said. "Maybe there are a few obstacles between us and it will be really different from many relationships, but I really like you Yosano. I understand if you don't want to forgive me, but I love you and I will keep trying until you are okay with me again." Kouyou finished, her eyes were searching Yosano's for any sign of forgiveness.
For a few moments, there was a silence between them and then, finally, Yosano spoke. "Come inside." She said softly.
Kouyou couldn't believe it and quickly followed Yosano inside. She looked around the living room and saw that Yosano had made some tea for her and placed a cozy blanket on the couch. Kouyou knew this was a sign: Yosano was ready to forgive her.
Kouyou started to tear up a little bit as she saw Yosano's feelings for her are not gone.
"Yosano, I tried to explain to you, but you didn't even listen to me... I'm not married and Izumi is not my child. She is my late friend's daughter. She is with me from a young age since her parents died. That's why she calls me as mom. She can hardly remember her parents." Kouyou quickly started to explain her side of the story as Yosano listened patiently and calmly. Finally, she was done.
Yosano had nothing to say for a few moments. Why did she even make a simple problem like that a big deal? Then she finally spoke up. "I heard you out and I'm also sorry for making something simple like this a big deal instead of listening you..."
Kouyou immediately let out a breath of relief. "It's okay."
The rain outside was pounding but Kouyou was the happiest she had ever been in that moment, she finally felt at peace. She had convinced the woman she loved to forgive her and it was all ever she wanted.
A moment later, Yosano wrapped her arms around Kouyou and the two embraced. Kouyou felt an immense amount love and looked up at Yosano, she was barely able to believe that she was forgiven.
Eventually she could muster enough courage and asked. "Did you really forgive me?"
Yosano put her hand on Kouyou's shoulder. She looked into Kouyou's eyes and gave her a little smile. "I forgive you." She said softly. "I think what we can have in the future is worth fighting for. I'm sure there will be obstacles, but we will work through them together if we both want to." She paused and gently squeezed Kouyou's shoulder before dropping her hand. "Let's start a fresh new start, okay?"
Kouyou felt overwhelming relief wash over her. She hugged Yosano tightly with tears in her eyes. "Thank you, Yosano. I'm so grateful you have forgiven me."
Yosano nodded her head and smiled warmly. They stayed in the embrace for a long time.
Kouyou savored the moment and whispered in Yosano's ear. "I love you."
Yosano blushed and replied. "I love you more."
With that, Yosano and Kouyou, who had waited under the rain for many times, were in each other's arms again and ready to start anew.
