You waited in line for your turn to meet the VTubers. You saw that each fan had a few minutes to talk to them and take a picture with them. You saw that some fans brought gifts or letters for them. You saw that some fans were nervous and shy, while others were confident and enthusiastic.

You felt your nerves grow as you got closer to the stage. You wondered what you would say to Polka, or if you would say anything at all. You wondered if she would recognize you, or if she would act like a stranger. You wondered if you would regret this, or if you would be glad.

You reached the front of the line and was directed to the VTuber of your choice. You hesitated for a moment, then walked towards Polka.

She saw you approaching and smiled.

"Hello, hello! Welcome to the circus!" she greeted you with her usual cheerfulness.

You felt your throat tighten and your mouth dry.

"Hi... Polka..." you managed to say.

She tilted her head and looked at you curiously.

"Do I know you? You look familiar..." she said.

You felt a pang of disappointment and relief.

"Yes... you do... we used to be neighbors..." you said.

She blinked and gasped.

"Wait... are you... Y/N?" she asked.

You nodded slowly.

"Yes... I'm Y/N..."

She clapped her hands and squealed.

"Oh my gosh! Y/N! It's been so long! How are you? What are you doing here?" she asked.

You felt a wave of emotions wash over you. You felt happy that she remembered you, but you also felt sad that she seemed so surprised. You felt flattered that she was excited, but you also felt bitter that she was so distant. You felt confused by her reaction, but you also felt hopeful that she cared.

"I'm... fine... I'm here to see you..." you said.

She smiled and hugged you.

"That's so sweet of you! I'm so happy to see you again! Come on, let's talk more!" she said.

She pulled you to the side and sat down with you on a couch. She looked at you with interest and affection.

"So, Y/N, tell me everything! What have you been up to? Where do you live now? What do you do for work? Do you have a girlfriend?" she asked.

You felt overwhelmed by her questions. You didn't know where to start or what to say. You didn't know how much to tell her or how much to hide. You didn't know how to act or how to feel.

You tried to answer her as best as you could. You told her about your life, your job, your friends, your hobbies. You told her everything except your feelings for her. You avoided mentioning their past, their confession, their rejection. You acted like nothing had happened between them. You acted like they were just old friends catching up.

She listened to you attentively and enthusiastically. She nodded and smiled and laughed and gasped. She commented and complimented and teased and joked. She acted like she was genuinely interested in you. She acted like she was happy to be with you. She acted like nothing had changed between them. She acted like they were just old friends catching up.

You and Polka talked for a while, until a staff member came and told them that their time was up. They had to go back to the stage and meet the other fans. They stood up and walked towards the stage, holding hands.
