Her hands shook rapidly. She was taking heavy, fast breaths. She turned her foot back like she was going to take off but then stepped forward and mumbled,"Yeah I'm Umm- I'm a Wilter." I looked deep into her eyes and soon my mind was drowning with flashbacks. My twin sister. Our friendship was filled with failing classes but smiling through it, breaking our arms on the monkey bars but getting matching casts, cuddling each other while we slept as our parents shouting shook the house, we were inseparable. Then one day she kept asking my parents some questions, and next thing I knew it she was out of my life. She probably disappeared when I was around six years old. A squeak came out of my throat when I mumbled,"Eliana?"
Her head shot straight up making her hood fall down, revealing a wild mess of dark wavy hair that fell right below her rib cage.
"H-h-you know my name?" She said, but it came out as a whisper.
I hesitantly stepped closer to her, and she stepped back.
"Wait, you're my sister!" I exclaimed.
I remembered everything.
The day after she disappeared, my parents sent all of us(my siblings and I) to deep counseling sessions.
To forget her.
I remember the counselor always had a hard time with me, because I kept shouting over and over for Elaina to come, and prove the therapist wrong.
But she never came.
I never saw her again, all her pictures were gone, all the messes she made were cleaned, all her toys were destroyed.
It's like she never excisted.
But now, as she stood before me, a wave of memories came back.
"Wait. Jonny?" She said faintly.
This time MY head snapped up and I stared at her.
She took a step back, her head seeming to spin.
Her eyes focused back in me.
"Oh my, Jonny! Jonny it's you oh my gosh Jonny!" She cried.
She bounded towards me and hugged me.
I held on to her as more memories broke through the surface of my mind, good, funny, and comforting.
But never bad.
I finally released her and stared at her.
That's when I realized Alex had been standing there.
"Uh, hi, I'm Alex."
Alex held out his hand and looked at her with an expression I couldn't identify.
She shook his hand and smiled at him.
She looked back at me and hugged me again.
She broke apart with a tear running down her face making me realize MY own eyes were misty.
"Come on Eliana," I croaked."We have a lot to catch up on."
And with that, the three of us set off, back into the safety of the night.
