My eyes swept over the table that was suddenly over flowing with weapons.
"H-how did all these get here?" Alex asked in alarm.
"Um, I don't really know, I just found this in the basement," El said slowly.
"You found this in his basement?!" I panicked.
"I don't know, but yeah they were all in a box." She began pointing out weapons to us, but I didn't really like any of them.
"Hey, how about this?" Alex picked up a large, bulky sword and carefully swung it.
A large puff of black smoke emitted from the sword and into Alex's face, and then disappeared.
"Okay, so maybe not," Alex concluded.
He and El continued looking, and every weapon they tried blew up in their face.
"How, how," Alex coughed."How much more of this?"
"How am I supposed to know, genius?" El said to him.
"OKAY, how about...this one?" He hesitantly picked up a long silver sword, with a black hilt that jutted out on both sides.
"I know what this is! I read about this in a book about 16th century Scotland! It's called a Claymore!" He excitedly flipped it around, and gently gave it a swing.
It didn't explode.
El and I clapped and suddenly let out a gasp. Tiny golden words were slowly being engraved into the blade.
Alex squinted and read.
"S-Scutula?" He said.
"I think it's Latin, that's the name of your weapon," I said, speaking up.
"Well, genius, I think you've found your weapon of choice." El nodded and continued looking when she accidentally knocked a small axe onto the floor. She picked it up and stared for a while.
"Have you found your weapon yet Ms.Picky Princess?" Alex joked.
"Don't call me princess!" She snapped, and suddenly, the axe became slightly larger.
We all stared before she spoke up.
"Alex, make me mad again."
"What? Make YOU mad while you have an axe in your hand? I'm not mental!"
"Just do it."
"Fine, if you won't, I will," I said.
"Okay, go ahead Jon," she said.
"Um, why do you listen to music all the time? Isn't it pointless? What have those band members ever done for you?"I said, praying she wouldn't stick the axe through my head.
"What. Did you. Just say." She turned toward me as her face turned red. Suddenly, the axe grew even larger, till it was a little bigger than Scutula.
"This is it! The sword grows based off of my emotions! It's cause of the golden eye gene!"She exclaimed, her anger fading away as she focused on the tiny words appearing on the handle of the axe.
"It's called... Securis."
"Neat, but how about Jon?" Alex asked, putting his hand around my shoulder casually.
Calm down, calm down, calm down, please don't make anything explode.
"Yeah, what about short stack?" El said, a playful glint in her eye. I glared at her, remember how I used to get teased at school for being too short.
Suddenly, a light bulb shimmering with a golden light appeared above her head, but no one noticed. At least, not until it gave a groan and dropped. She yelped as dove out of the way, just in the nick of time.
"D-did you do that?" She whispered.
I fidgeted uncomfortably and she asked again.
"Jon, did you do that?" Her voice had more confidence.
"Yes," I quietly said, but they both caught it.
"So, you made a light bulb fall when she made you mad..." Alex muttered.
"Jon, you don't need a weapon!" He suddenly exclaimed.
"What?"
"Your emotions are your own weapon! Almost like El's, 'cept you don't need a weapon!" He said, his excitement growing.
"If that's true..." El trailed off."SHORTSTACK!" She suddenly screamed.
"What?!" I turned towards her, annoyed and angry. She quickly sent her black shoe flying towards me.
I quickly raised my hand to block it but my arm wasn't quick enough.
Out of nowhere, a golden light flickered off of my body and flicked the shoe out of my face.
"Whoa..." She and Alex breathed.
"Jonny," Alex said, grinning so very adorably." I think we've found your weapon!"
