The Golden Eye

Chapter 18

I awoke in a dark room, almost like a cave. It was overflowing with black and white photos of people, with unhappy looks to them. Their golden eyes shimmering violently at you. That's right, I was at Fredrick's dungeon. He sat on a throne shimmering in gold, blood still dripping from his face, it never seemed to stop. His minions surrounded him. He played with his hands and said,"You see Jonathan Wilter, I've simply had it with you. I expect every golden eyed child to join my army, but you are taking forever to decide if you want to join. And frankly after the little experience we've had, I might as well have to kill you. I mean I wouldn't want you telling anyone about my plans, you've already told your twin sister and your little weakling friend." He flicked his hand and his minions surrounded me. I gasped, this wasn't how the plan was supposed to go at all. He was supposed to ask me to join, and El, Alex and I would show off our skills to get on his good side, then get to Maya. They raised their weapons, and honestly I had no idea what they were but I did know one thing: they'd definitely slice my skull in half. Before they could strike, memories filled my brain. The hate I have for how my family treated me, the dirty looks at school, the sad looks I got after presenting my report card. A golden outline surrounded his minions and they shrieked in pain, falling to the floor with a thud. A few of them struggled to their feet but Fredrick held his hand up,"Hold it!" And they froze in their tracks. He smiled at me brightly and said,"That was amazing, so empowering. You've trained haven't you?" I smiled and said,"I worked so hard Fredrick. I am destined to be apart of your army, to help you take over the world and destroy all the people who have hurt us. My friends have also trained, they have astonishing weapons." Wow, Jon great acting, I said to myself. Fredrick jumped up happily and said,"Well you and your friends are in! I can't wait to show you and your sister how to make your eyes brain wash! Goodness this will be fun! Bring them on over and I'll introduce you to your new home." I shook nervously, but then smiled and took his hand.

"H-how do I bring them? Isn't this a dream?" I asked confused.
"It is.. And it isn't!" He laughed like the maniac he was and I suddenly woke up.
I shook my head trying to get rid of the image of the golden blood dripping down his face.
I peeked out the window by the couch I was sleeping on. The sunlight burned my eyes and I winced. I slipped of the couch and stretched, then heading off to find El and Alex. I went into the room and my heart dropped to my stomach.
They were both facing each other sleeping, El's body curving into his.
"Uh," I cleared my throat,"Wake up."
El stirred being the light sleeper she is, and looked up at me.
"Oh-uh yeah? What's up?" She fell back on the bed rubbing her eyes, causing Alex to wake up.
"It's time." I said.
"Fred's ready and waiting for us."
