Chapter 35
Normal was never going to be a word Genesis would use to describe her life, but the past 3 weeks have been filled with a proper routine. Gael spent his days adjusting some of the rules within the company and planning on making some other policies more efficient. All this while also combining his life with Genesis at home and his boxing life back at the warehouse.
Genesis got used to having a staff at home now that they also had a yacht in the marina that she loved to show off to everyone she had the chance to and there was nobody at the home to clean anymore. She had dinner there with Hannah and Natalia at least three times a week, then on Fridays she also invited the boys to allow Gael to show off the yacht.
She considered that boat to be her own, but she still loved every second of it.
"So you never told me what happened between you and Jackson," Genesis starts, looking over at Natalia. She raises her eyebrows. "You remember that shit in Bermuda?" Natalia starts, "Apparently Gael stopped the whole strip club thing and I told Jackson that if he ever pulled that shit again I'd call the cops on his little business."
"His what?" Genesis looks at Natalia, Gael never told her what his friends did, but since he appreciated his privacy so much, she assumed that they would too. "Gael didn't tell you?" Nat joked and she takes a sip of her wine, "Do not tell him you know."
"I don't know anything," Genesis says. "Basically, Jackson is the one who collects the money and then gives it to the person who bet on the right boxer," Natalia says, "It's a little side hustle."
Genesis doesn't have to ask to already know how he gets money out of it – he doesn't give everything to the winner.
"I love how you're prouder of this boat than Gael is," Hannah changes the topic, stuffing her mouth with the salad that Genesis made. "Yacht," Genesis corrects her, a small smirk on her lips. This is exactly how Hannah behaved when they were on their yacht towards Bermuda. Hannah glares at Genesis, but she chuckles when their gazes meet.
"Don't make that joke with James because he will dismember your body," she jokes and she sips her wine, looking away. "Who picked it?" Natalia asks, looking around to figure out the details that might give away the answer before Ginny said the name. "I did," she answers, smiling wide.
"I can tell," Hannah lies, the yacht wasn't unique to their personalities yet. Genesis knows that she and Gael haven't decorated it yet, but she believes that Hannah isn't lying so she feels impressed by Hannah's statement. Natalia knows that it's all bullshit.
Genesis chuckles at the sudden energy shift between the two. "Meet my chef," Genesis says when the man who makes their food walks into the room. The man looks up, surprised that Genesis is taking the time to introduce him to the other people. He's not used to being introduced to friends of the boss.
"This is Dom," Genesis says, smiling wide, "He's in charge of the amazing cuisine on board." Hannah looks up at Dom and she nods. "Amazing would be an understatement," Hannah says, Natalia nodding in agreement. Ginny looks up at Dom, smiling wide. "I told you your food was great," Genesis says.
"Thank you, Mrs." Dom's voice is soft and it's clear to Genesis that he's not used to getting the credit he's worked so hard for. "Dessert is almost ready," Dom says and he backs into the kitchen. "Now I feel bad that I told Jackson not to go to strip clubs anymore, I could've fucked Dom as payback," Natalia says.
The comment makes Genesis's heart squeeze in all the wrong ways, but she doesn't respond to it. She's learned that all of these people are messed up in all the wrong ways, but they're loyal and if you look beyond the flaws, they're great friends.
