Chapter 13
Gael looks in the mirror and he fixes his collar. "See, I told you they'd be invisible," Genesis answers, a small smile crosses her lip as she uses her makeup brush to blend the foundation line a little better. The swelling has completely disappeared because of Genesis's ice pack, but the skin is still a purple-ish blue.
"Thanks," he admits, looking at the places that used to be bruised. If you look closely, you can still see them, but just glancing at himself and knowing the lighting at dinner will be bad, they'll be invisible. "I'm going to get changed," Genesis says and she leaves his room and she heads to her own.
Gael watches her leave and he looks back at the skin where his bruises used to be. Monday was the worst day, but on Tuesday the swelling had already gone down a lot. Thursday, the swelling was gone finally. He had hoped that the bruising would be gone by now, but he had to resort to his final rescue and that was Genesis using brushes and sponges to smear the skin-colored paint on his face and neck.
They barely spoke the past few days, Genesis got used to hanging out with Hannah and Natalia and lunch became a daily occurrence. Not that Gael minded, all he got was a text or a text from one of his friends that Genesis might be just like the other girls.
Except Gael knows that every time the girl gets home, she hurries to her room, gets changed into sweatpants, and spends the afternoon in the pool house filling up her scrapbook. The pool house is somewhat distanced from the house, so he just stays at the house.
Genesis wraps her hair around the curling iron, making sure that her fingers don't touch the hot item. It took her a while to get all the curls perfect, but she got ready early so she had the time to make sure she didn't embarrass Gael. The curl falls down her shoulder and she quickly brushes her fingers through it. The curl changes into a classy wave and she gets up.
The dress looks good on her, and now with her hair and makeup done to match the entire look, she looks absolutely amazing. Genesis hasn't seen herself this way before, but wearing this dress, her heels, the hair, and her eyeliner, she can't help but think she looks beautiful.
She bites her lip and then turns to her tree-shaped jewelry holder, she grabs a necklace and she tries to put it around her necklace.
She can't get it done for some reason.
The girl hooks a bracelet around her wrist and then she picks up the necklace again. "Gael?" She asks, leaving her bedroom. Gael walks out of his room, he's fixing his collar as he walks towards her. The man is wearing a black suit with a black shirt under it. He has a short beard, which is perfectly trimmed and his hair is perfectly modeled.
"Yes?" He asks, his eyes landing on her. Her dress looks amazing on her, showing just the right amount of cleavage and it's short enough to be sexy but long enough to not look cheap. The design hugs her waist in all the right places and the heels she's wearing under it show off her long legs. "Can you help me with this necklace?" She holds up a small gold chain with an Onyx stone in it. The black stone matches her dress and the thin, gold chain matches the rest of her gold jewelry.
Like her wedding ring.
"Turn around," Gael orders and he takes the necklace from her. Genesis turns around and she moves her hair over her shoulder to give him space. Gael quickly moves his hands over her, placing the necklace in the right position. His fingertips gently move over her skin as he hooks the necklace together. Then he takes her hair and he moves it over the necklace before he gently brushes his fingers through it.
Genesis turns around and she looks up at him. "Ready to go?" she asks. Gael nods and he walks towards the door. He would've offered her his arm but he decides not to. He walks down the stairs before her. He doesn't look at her, but that doesn't mean he's not paying close attention to what's going on. Just in case she falls, he'll catch her instantly.
