Chapter 46

Genesis woke up, her mind still getting used to having Gael around, just not next to her in bed. The comfort of having him back in her life and at the same time the discomfort of some feelings he reignited in her make her feel even more confused than Gael's actions.

There's a small weight on her bed and when she looks over at it, she spots a tiny box. The name on the box immediately starts a memory from the day before, when they were in the city and she stood in front of a jewelry store. She saw a necklace that she liked. Ginny didn't even say she wanted it, she just looked at it and said she liked it.

Gael knows her well enough to recognize her eyes when she wants something. Genesis likes a lot, but when she wants something, she has that look. Him buying this for her makes her realize that he knows her better than she thought.

Genesis decides to not tell him she knows he got it for her, instead, she'll wear it tonight for dinner since Gael told her about going out for dinner.

She hears a muffling sound outside the door and she looks up. Nothing happens, just a few soft sounds. Then there's a voice that she recognizes as Mattias, but she can't make out proper words. She puts the necklace on her nightstand and then gets out of bed.

There are two options for her right now, one is to get ready right now and go with whatever Gael has planned, and the second is that she just wears a shirt and ties her hair up to quickly check what's going on and risk walking in on something she's not supposed to see yet.

Genesis picks the first option and she climbs out of bed. She picks out a proper outfit, which is basically a dress with somewhat longer sleeves because the weather in Cabo isn't that hot this time of year. It's still warm though, New York considers them summer temperatures. She puts on some comfortable sandals under them, they make the outfit nice but are still comfortable enough that if Gael wants to walk around the city.

She then walks to the bathroom and she brushes her hair. It's poofy, so if she ties it in a low ponytail she can at least contain it and not look like a lion. She does what she says and then walks out of the room. Gael immediately looks up at her. "Oh, hey," he says, his voice sounding breathless. Mattias's eyes widen at the sight of the girl. "Good morning, I'll be out now," Matt says and he backs out of the room.

"But Charlotte," Genesis whines, she hasn't seen the little girl since she arrived and she missed Charlotte. "You'll see her this trip, don't worry," Mattias assures her and he shuts the door behind him. Genesis furrows her eyebrows together and looks at Gael. "What are you scheming, Gael?" she narrows her eyes.

Gael smirks and he walks to her. "I'm taking you somewhere today," he says, "Bring some water for on the way."

"Are we going somewhere far then?" Genesis crosses her arms, wondering what he's up to now. He's never really mentioned anything outside of Cabo that he loves, but she always assumed other places in Mexico were also like home to him. Gael has grown to be more open with her and trust her more with his feelings and what's happening in his life, however his family, especially his mom's side of the family is what he's keeping private.

Genesis never blamed him for that, she never wanted to sound like she was prying into his life, but every time she thought of the woman, she thought of Gael's entire history that he never talked about. She got to know bits and pieces through his Spanish and through the cuisine he introduced her to.

But that's his heritage, that's because he's half Mexican and she loves getting to know that culture and after every little thing he shows her, she tries to talk to him more about the context and then she tries to add it into their lives.
