Chapter 51
"We should buy another house," Genesis whispers. Her fingertips trace circles on Gael's chest as she looks up at him. "We should," he says, "Closer to my aunt and with enough space to put everyone in a room."
He tightens his grip around the girl, enjoying the room that they still have together. In about 15 minutes the house will probably burst into life and everyone will migrate towards the bedroom to escape from the people they just slept on. It'll be a house full of inconsiderate assholes who forget that Gael and Genesis probably would like some morning sex.
Not that they had any since they renewed their vows, so many people sleeping just outside their lockless door, Genesis didn't want to risk it.
But she was saving it for when they got home. "And have locks on the doors," Genesis says, "Isn't this house from your family?" She furrows her eyebrows together, staring at the wall. She feels his chest moving with every breath he takes. "And again you're underestimating just how much money we have," he says.
We.
It's like music to Genesis's ears and she closes her eyes, humming. "What?" Gael asks, placing a gentle kiss on the crown of her head. "I just like the sound of 'we'," she admits, "You used to say 'I' a lot, said this was your house, not mine, your car, not mine-" she pauses, stopping herself from venting.
"But recently you picked up the 'we' and it always sounds like heaven," she says. Gael didn't even notice that he said that because it just felt natural to him. But now that she's pointing it out, he's realizing it. "Words mean a lot to you, don't they?" He asks, realizing how she's constantly reciting words and not actions.
"Yes," she answers, "Always have." It's something he's not used to, but it does explain why yesterday's surprise pushed her over the edge to be completely comfortable with him again.
"I'll be sure to use tell you exactly what I think of you more often," Gael says and he wraps his arms around her, "Especially the good things."
"You think bad things of me?"
"Or should I say...unholy things? Non-PG things?" He tilts his head, gently poking her side. "Oh!" Genesis finally realizes what he was referring to when he mentioned the bad things he thinks of her. "If I asked you this right after we got married, you would've said something else," she says, smirking.
He doesn't reply to that because he doesn't want to reignite their old dynamic. Genesis understands what he's thinking so she doesn't comment on it any further.
"Gael, can I suggest something," she starts, biting her lip. Gael looks down and he nods. "Anything," he says, hoping to welcome her ideas.
"Why don't we start a boxing studio?" Genesis looks up at him. Gael furrows his eyebrows together. "I haven't really thought of that," he says. "Well now that the warehouse is over, I'm thinking you might want to continue your second passion," Genesis suggests, "Like, on evenings, outside the company."
Gael nods and he gently strokes her hair. "I actually think it's a great idea," he says, "I'll ask if James, Jackson, and Seb want in on it."
"Maybe you can get Matt to go back out there and teach," she says. Gael chuckles quietly. "I came here with suspicions of anything illegal, Matt has actual proof hanging over his head, he can't come back there," he explains, "It would be a dream though."
Genesis nods and she holds onto him. As expected, the door to the bedroom swings open and Jackson walks in. "James and Hannah are having sex," he chants as if he's a little kid and their sibling is doing something completely wrong. "Let them," Gael groans and he pulls the sheets over him and Genesis.
