Chapter 39
The weather in Hawaii was much more unpredictable in the fall than in New York. The temperature didn't go down that much, but the wind and rain definitely did ruin two out of the four days that they spent together. Luckily there was as much indoor as there was outdoor, so while the pool was closed, they watched a movie together in the theater, or they went to the spa.
That was definitely something Genesis needed, a few hours with a facemask on while someone's elbows were breaking every single knot that was making it painful for her shoulders to move properly. The facemask also made it feel like her face was breathing.
Gael hated every second of it, but he didn't complain so Genesis wouldn't feel bad.
On Monday they went back home, not that Genesis wanted to, but she knew she had to. Gael had to go back to work and Genesis wanted to spend more time with Hannah and Natalia now that they're on better terms. Having Gael back in the office the entire day is something she had to get used to, it makes her regret not taking the job he offered her because now she can't see him during the day.
She went to his office before lunchtime with pancakes and a sandwich so they could eat together, but then she had to go back home and she left him there in his office. Gael seemed happy to be back, finally, his work was better and he's had this amazing trip that Johnathan paid for and Gael knows he hated paying for something Gael loved.
Instead of her yacht or her house, Genesis now has dinner at Hannah's place. James wasn't home, which was good for them because now they could indulge themselves in girl talk and they didn't have to hide from James or anyone who might judge them. "Has Gael taken you to his family's vineyard yet?" Natalia asks.
"No, but I'll try to convince him during our next trip to Cabo," Genesis answers, placing her utensils on her empty plate before leaning back into her seat. Natalia grins and she uses her knife to scoop the last bits of her food onto her spoon and then she brings that to her mouth. "Good luck," Hannah says, "Mattias hasn't even seen that yet."
Genesis chuckles and she looks at the two. "I'm not going to force it though," Genesis tells the two. Hannah's the last to finish her dinner and the maid is already cleaning up the table within 30 seconds of her laying down her spoon. Hannah looks satisfied with the service, but Genesis is glad that hers and Gael's people aren't doing things so rushed and strict.
"Force anything on Gael and he'll divorce you immediately," Hannah chuckles. The comment immediately makes the alarm bells ring in Ginny's head, Hannah's said a couple of other things in the past about Gael that are making Genesis doubt things. "Hannah I don't really like those comments about Gael," she blurts out before thinking about how to approach this.
"Excuse me?" Hannah asks, looking at Genesis. It's obvious that she doesn't understand the harm done by the comments she's made. "Talking about Gael divorcing me," Genesis responds with a whisper, "Sometimes it just makes me feel like you have this weird obsession with him."
"It's true," Natalia chimes in. Hannah gasps and looks at Natalia, but Natalia stays exactly the way she is. "I'm sorry," Hannah says, focusing back on Genesis, "If I say anything again that makes you uncomfortable, let me know at the moment so I know what you're talking about."
The apology isn't satisfying to Genesis, but she'll take it because Hannah is probably that type of person for Gael. And she's been friends with him for years, so who is Genesis to judge that friend judge? But if Hannah's overstepping, Ginny has every right to speak up.
Hannah just isn't used to that.
"Would you both like dessert?" Hannah asks, changing the subject to one less tense. "What do you have?" Natalia asks, her face transforms into a smirk. "Baklava," Hannah answers. "Oh my god, when Gael and I threw that food thing a few weeks ago, we had dinner at the Turkish place that served and they also gave us baklava," Genesis states, smiling widely at the two girls.
