Chapter 54

Genesis wakes up in an empty bed. Today was opening day and she had everything ready and set to go. The entire place was ready and set to run and there was nothing that could go wrong.

Several things could've gone wrong, obviously, but with the way she has confirmed everything with the stakeholders, she knows nothing can go wrong.

Genesis climbs out of bed and gets changed into the clothes she decided to wear to the opening event. It wasn't much, it was just a beige, wide-legged pantsuit with a tight bodysuit on it. Under that, she just wore some platform boots, but they were comfortable so she could be walking around easily.

She goes downstairs and finds Gael already ready and dressed in the kitchen. He's scrolling through his phone. "Morning," Genesis greets him and she walks to him, smiling wide as she cups his cheeks, kissing his lips.

"Ready?" Gael asks.

"Born ready," Genesis says. Because of him, she's learned that she's good at hosting events, organizing them, and planning – and she's even good at it. She's glad that Gael gave her this opportunity and she's even happier that he's taking her seriously. Maybe it is the bare minimum, but since Genesis is currently pregnant, her hormones are freaking her out and the slightest effort makes her cry.

Genesis already had a feeling when she didn't want to have sex with Gael again and when she felt a little nauseous in the mornings, not enough for Gael to notice, but enough for Genesis to know this wasn't just any type of nausea.

When she took a test, and it came back positive, she was happy. Then the second test a few days later was positive again and she knew it couldn't have been a mistake.

"Are you ready?" Genesis asks him, narrowing her eyes. "Always," Gael says and he plants a soft kiss to her lips. Genesis grins and pulls back slowly. "Let's go," she says.

Gael signals to Marcus to take them, it may be the man's job to drive them around but he was already invited regardless. Genesis's phone buzzes and when she checks it she sees a text from Hannah that she's also coming a little early to help set it up.

"So you told me that some journalists are going to be there?" Gael asks. "Yes, journalists and also some professional boxers from the area to promote it to our desired target group," Genesis answers him, reaching over to hold his hand in hers.

Gael nods.

Marcus drives them to the building and he parks in a proper place so he can stay with them. Normally he'd drive away and pick them up, but he needs to see Gael's place because he sees Gael as a son to him.

Genesis sticks the key in the lock and then twists, opening the door. It's still dark, so Gael hurries to the light switch to turn on the lights. Then he walks around. "So what's the plan?" As talented as Genesis is in planning events, Gael isn't and he knows he's going to need her help if he wants to pull this off.

"The caterers are going to be here in 30 minutes, so we just need them to have space to set up," she starts, "The flyers are under the administration desk, the keys to the equipment are also right there."

Gael nods. "So what are we going to do now?" he asks, looking around the place. "Admire what we've built now that it's still quiet," Genesis answers and she walks over to the bar area, there's also a fridge placed with enough for milkshakes, power shakes, and nutritious snacks, but also some bakery-level pastries that Genesis bought. She kept them here in the fridge to keep them chilled and fresh.

The door opens, the little bell ringing every time the door touches it. Genesis looks up and she sees Hannah and James walk through the door. Hannah's eyes immediately shoot to Genesis, then they drop to her belly and back up to her eyes. Genesis shakes her head to let Hannah know she hasn't told Gael yet and is still keeping it a secret.
