Chapter 17
Gael's phone dings. It's not the sound of a text notification, it's the sound of the app Isaac installed, alerting Gael that there's an update on Mattias. The guy's heart starts racing and he takes the first exit. He uses his car's control panel to call James, Jackson and Sebastian in a group call and the four guys plan to meet up in a parking lot just out of the city.
"Have you seen it?" Jackson asks and he slams his car door shut, looking over at Gael. "I wanted to wait for you," Gael says and he looks at them. "Fuck off and open the notification," James commands, proving Gael exactly where he got the authority he uses in his tone from. Sebastian locks his car and he leans against the range rover that belongs to his friend.
Gael opens the notification and his breathing hitches. "The guy was spotted 30 minutes ago," he breathes out. He puts his phone on the top of his car and he places his hands on her knees, bending forward to catch his breath. After Genesis gave him the greenlight to search as much as he wanted to, he put someone in the company in charge instead of him and he got in his car and drove off to Providence, Rhode Island.
James, Jackson and Sebastian met him there and from there they started to strategically scan over the city. After that, they started to go in depth of the towns around, spreading out to the rest of the state.
It took them a total of 5 days where Gael only had breakfast with Genesis and Charlotte, then left and came back before dinner. James, Jackson and Sebastian followed his example and they all drove around, having each other on speed dial so if anything happened, the others would know immediately.
"Where?" Sebastian asks and he looks over at the other guys. Gael looks at the location, then forwards the coordination's to the guys and he instantly opens the car door. "I forwarded you guys the location and I'll see you there," he says and he hops in the car.
He instantly uses his controls to call Genesis, who's labeled as one of his favorite contacts. The group is already on speed dial, Genesis is under the favorite labels so that he can call her fairly quickly as well. The call connects to his car and he drives off. "Gael?" Genesis didn't waste any time when she heard her phone ringing.
She watches Charlotte play with the barbies while listening to Gael explaining that Mattias has been spotted and they're on their way there to pick him up. Genesis drops the glass she held in her hand. "Is everything okay?" Gael asks, hearing the glass shatter in the distance. "Yes, I should go clean this up," Ginny says, "Call me if you find him."
Her heart starts pounding in her chest and she's at the verge of tears because of how overwhelming it is. "Auntie okay?" Charlie's eyes are glued on Genesis and she instantly gathers herself together for the little girl. "Uncle Gael is so busy, I miss him," Genesis answers.
It's a half-truth because genuinely, with him being so busy, she is looking forward to seeing him again, during breakfast and dinner, but after that kiss, she's glad he's being distant from her. She needed time to think, but with every day passing, she's starting to miss him a little more.
Now with Mattias starting to be back in the picture, she's getting nervous. This means Charlotte is going back and it'll be just her and Gael again, so far, when it was just them, things didn't really go very well. But for some reason, they have been going very well this past week.
It's like she's with a completely different person. Genesis could barely sleep at night thinking of the reasons why he'd kiss her, thinking of the reasons why suddenly now he's so nice to her. She hasn't done much to actually be the woman he's always wanted her to be, but for some reason, he's becoming the man she wanted him to be.
