Chapter 52
It's been weeks since they've been back. Genesis hasn't realized how weird it is now that her relationship with Gael is steady and nothing really has been going on.
The only thing that happened is that Genesis has been looking for empty places in the city center so Gael can start his boxing place, but so far no luck.
The cops had been over once asking about the Warehouse, but Gael had his tracks erased so well that after a few questions, everything made sense and nobody was talking about it again. Gael knew the police had nothing to build their case on so once Gael said 'I was not involved with the Warehouse Boxing', the research was dropped.
Genesis spent every other day searching for places, but nothing was up to her standards. She's fine with some building, but most places were just four terribly built walls that needed to be completely rebuilt. One place was in the city center, it had proper walls, but needed new isolation, needed new windows, new doors – it was a lot. Gael said he's fine with building it from the ground up, but Genesis wants to have at least some proper walls and doors, but most buildings don't even have that.
She didn't tell Gael that though, she wanted to make a proper selection and after a few weeks she wanted to show him what she had. But there wasn't much to show him so she ended up not showing him anything.
Genesis grunts when she sees pictures of yet another building that was neglected. "You know Gael would actually adore a place he can build up," Marcus says, interrupting what she's thinking about. Genesis looks up at him. "I don't want him to have to wait," Genesis says and she shuts her laptop again.
"He doesn't have to wait if he's spending that time with you working his ass off for something he's passionate about," Marcus explains. Genesis hates how he's right about that because she knows Gael would love building something from the ground up.
She stares up at the man, he already recognizes the knowing look in her eyes. "Call that guy," Marcus says, "Buy the place and we can show Gael after work." Genesis pushes her lips together, staring up at him.
Maybe Genesis wanted to hear the 'You're right' or maybe she wanted to hear exactly what he gave her now. But for some reason she wants to hear the first option, she wants Marcus to sit down and tell her she's right and that he'll help her find exactly what she wanted to find.
"Go call that realtor and buy the place," Marcus says. It's still an odd concept for her to just buy a property and do with it whatever she pleases. No rent to pay, literally just pay for it and it's theirs. Marcus stays in the room and Genesis's gaze meets his, she narrows her eyes.
But she finally gives up and she grabs her phone, dialing the number added to a listing she considered to be 'perfect' before she actually realized how much still had to be done before they could open a boxing studio.
"Good morning, this is Yasmin Campbell," a woman introduces herself on the phone. "Hi, this is Genesis Mayfield speaking, I'm calling about a property that I'm interested in," Genesis starts the call, giving Marcus a sarcastic smile before continuing the conversation, giving the woman her details before making an appointment to sign the papers.
The surprise in Yasmin's tone when Genesis says she wasn't interested in looking first made the girl feel very satisfied with herself.

When he was a kid his mom would tell him that too much screen time would make his eyes square. After the day he's had, he's starting to believe that his eyes are square. He's spent the entire day behind his phone or laptop and sometimes he'd have a meeting to switch it up.
