Just My Luck, Stuck With The Alpha
Chapter Eighteen:
Most of the pack members left with me to go to the meeting, but before then Rowan forced me to go to sleep. And he wouldn't let me leave my room until I was sleep. So I got some rest, but I wasn't... healed. I was still tired and lonely. I sighed. We arrived in Zev's territory in a matter of minutes. I was excited and happy to be here, it made me feel welcome and missed. Vladdy came out of the packhouse with Xerin, Trix, Cade, Kelliot, Slade, and Sinn, they all were practically screaming like little fan girls when they saw me. I was consumed in hugs and that's when Zev came out. When I saw him my heart fluttered and fell at the same time. He looked just as tired and weak as I did. It made me sad. I hugged the boys back happy to see them but looked at Zev. He approached me and smiled a little.
"Hey." He started. I switched feet and began standing on my other foot.
"Hey, you." I said back.
"Um... I'm sorry about your celebration I really wish we could have stayed but..."
"Zev, it's fine. I mean it's not like this isn't important." I said running a hand through my hair. He looked at my face and frowned.
"You haven't been getting any sleep, have you?" He asked studying my face. I shrugged.
"It's been really hard to sleep lately." I mumbled.
"Same here. Well, come on. We have a lot to discuss." He said and guided us into the house. Zev led the way while me, Vladdy and Rowan stayed behind. Vladdy stopped me.
"What's going on with you and Zev?" He asked suspiciously. I shrugged.
"I have no idea what you're talking about. There's nothing going on between me and him." I said. Vladdy scoffed.
"I know attraction when I see it." He said.
"Vladimir Ethan Xavier, there's nothing going on with me and Zev, we're just friends. And that's it." I said firmly. Vladdy narrowed his eyes at me.
"You're in love with him aren't you?" He asked. I rolled my eyes but kept silent. I knew my voice would give me away. Vladdy cleared his throat. "You are, aren't you?" When I didn't say anything else he puzzled everything together. "You two are mates..." He said breathless. "Alpha and Alpha... OH SHIT!" I clamped my hand over his mouth and glared.
"If you tell him anything you know about us being mates, I will make your life hell. Do you understand?" I demanded lowly. His eyes met mine and his gaze softened as he nodded. I let my hand go.
"Onyx, I would never do anything to object you. I just want you to know that he does and doesn't know. He's not... I dunno what's wrong with him. But you have to mark him and accept him before the war." Vladdy said. I stopped but him and Rowan kept walking.
"War? What war?"

"Ok everyone. For all you veterans, you know exactly who the Ice Pack is right?" Zev asked looking around at everyone. Everyone in the room nodded. Except for me. I looked around and put my hand up but Zev looked at me with an amused expression. "Yes, Silver?"
"Ice Pack? I briefly remember you telling me about the Ice Pack but I'm not completely aware of who they are and what their reputation is." I said.
"The Ice Pack is the deadliest and most ruthless pack you could ever come across. They are completely hateful and they really don't care about anything or anyone else. They rape, and they kill. They are also the largest pack... precisely because of their rapid reproduction skills. Ice Pack members... will take unmarked mates and... use them." Zev said his gaze flickering to me. "The ones to object are the ones they do the worst to. They want to be the most powerful pack. They also want to be the only pack. So they go around and eliminate every other pack. The problem is... there's always been a Female Alpha that ruins their plans. The reason being... Female Alpha's usually mate with another Alpha, which creates a powerful vibe to both packs that each Alpha is in, and that results in having two very powerful packs versus one. They tend to go after the most powerful packs thinking that if they take the Female Alpha hostage and force her to have the Ice Pack Alpha's children, they think that they could have just one child to be the most powerful Alpha in the world. The thing is it's not them to decide whether they have a powerful Alpha. It's the Spirits. Basically to sum everything up; the Ice Pack are maniacs who think they run shit. And they've come to kill off the Rhyne's and the Royale's yet kidnap you." Zev said. I immediately felt self-conscience.
I swallowed. "They're gonna do those things to me aren't they?" I said softly.
"No." Zev said firmly. "Because I won't let them." That made me smile a little, but of course as any natural being I was scared.
"So we have to go to war." I said stating the obvious.
"Pretty much, though it's not war to them. We're gonna have to leave our homes and camp out. They'll be here in approximately 2 days. We don't have much time."
"So we have to evacuate our homes... why?" I asked.
"Like I said, it's war to us. Not them. They don't fight fair. Their strategy is to come in at midnight and start the kidnapping and killing." Zev said. I frowned.
"How many of them are there?" I asked.
"Probably about 200."
"We've got more people than them." I said.
"We also have a lot of children, we have men who can't reach their Lycanthrope stage because they don't know who their mate is." I let out an aggravated grunt.
'See Silver, your mate's gonna die because you won't claim him. You won't accept him.' My wolf taunted.
"Ok. Well, for the children I know where they can go. All I can say for the men and women is that we train as soon as we leave. They must search immediately for their mates. We cannot afford to let the Ice Pack get the better of us. I will not let them get the better of us. I won't back down." I said. That set a smile on everyone's face.
"Spoken like a true Alpha." A girl said walking next to Zev. I felt a wave of dominance pulse through me as I saw her next to him.
'Who is she and why is she by our mate?!' My wolf growled.
"Silver, this is my cousin, Kayla. Kayla as you already know this is Alpha Silver Royale." Zev said. My wolf calmed a little yet she still growled.
"Hi." I said restraining the growl in my voice.
"Hello." She said. Her gaze moved from me to Vladdy who was standing next to me and it remained there. I... think... I've found... Vladdy's mate. Squeal time!
'Silver! Calm down, remember why you're here. War has come upon us and we must take action. We have to fight for our pack, fight for our people.' My wolf said.
"So we have things settled?" Zev said his gaze meeting mine. I nodded.
"I'll have the word spread for evacuation. I'll have one of the boys keep you updated on what's going on. But for now I'm gonna need to get humans involved with werewolves."
~ Unknown POV ~
I looked at the picture of my father before he was killed. He was a great man, very dominate. The best leader this pack has ever had... and now he's dead. All because of Zevariah's stupid father. I growled thinking of that wretched man.
"Alpha, when do you wish to take action?" Ivan asked. I turned to him.
"We strike at Midnight." I said. Right then the images of that boy Zev popped in my head.
"What do you wish to do with the Female Alpha?" He asked. I thought about it. She'd most likely be ugly compared to any other girl I've seen.
"She's gonna be our toy." I said grinning. He nodded and headed off. I stuffed my hands in my pockets and walked back to my bedroom where Quinci lay. I stroked her face. "I'll make them pay... pay for what they've done."
