Just My Luck, Stuck With The Alpha.
Chapter Fifty-Six.
-Zev-
I went down to get the door and I stopped in my tracks. Something felt off. I sniffed trusting my scent over my trusting instincts that it's just anyone. When I couldn't decipher the scent my heart began to race. It couldn't be Silver, she had a specific smell one I could point out human or not.
I sighed and opened the door.
My instinct was right this time.
"I've missed you." I said feeling my heart swell.
-Silver-
After hitchhiking most of my way here I stopped at my house to get some clothes and to take a few showers. Yes, more than one shower... Why? Because I reek from not taking showers prior to the fact I've been trying to find my way home from somewhere that I still don't know where it was.
I knocked on the door prepared for every reaction in the world. All except this.
The door opened and a kid answered my eyes widened. "Who are you?" the kid asked.
"I'm Silver." I said. "Silver Royale."
"Nu-uh, Auntie Silvy died a long time ago." the kid said.
"Charlie! Who's at the door?" I heard someone call from down the hall.
"A stranger." the boy called back. Soon Kevin came to the door and stopped dead in his tracks. Charlie ran to Kevin and hung on to his leg. I took that as my que to walk inside. So I took a step inside and closed the door behind me.
"Honey, who's at the door?" Melinda asked stepping down the stairs. She stopped also and clamped a hand over her mouth.
"Don't do this... please." I asked quietly. "Pretend like it never happened." I begged silently.
Kevin was the first to speak, "H-how?" he asked.
"Can I tell you after I take a shower and stuff?" I asked.
"Yeah-yeah sure. Um, I'll get Rodney and Jess." Kevin said. "Come on, Charlie."
"I'll show you your room, I guess." Melinda said. I followed her upstairs to my room. "I-I don't mean to act weird, it's just that it's been so long... so, so very long." she said.
"I know, I know and I have to explain what happened then I have to find Zev." I said. She smiled.
"He'll be glad to see you, everyone will." she said. "Come down for dinner when you're done. We'll all be waiting for you."
I nodded and smiled. She left and closed the door leaving me to get cleaned up. I wasted no time, I was starving and I felt beyond dirty.
I showered and cried. I'm almost home... almost home.... Home. I've craved the place where my beloved husband rules, where my children grow, where my kind rules the night. I miss my loyal werewolves. I miss my parents. I miss my life.
I got dressed in comfortable clothing then made my way downstairs. I pushed away all the awkwardness and made my way to the dinner table where 6 children sat at one small table and Jess, Rodney, Kevin and Melinda sat. Jess and Rodney dropped their forks and stated wide-eyed at me.
"I should have believed you when you said it." Jess said.
"Don't do that..." Melinda said quickly looking in my direction flashing me a genuine smile then turning back to Jess and Rodney. They regained their composure and looked at me again.
