Author's POV
Bella was a little girl with big dreams. If you asked somebody who knew her about how she was like, they'd probably say charming, amiable or maybe calm. Problem is, barely anybody knew her. As a four year old you can't do anything by yourself. You need your parents more than anything. Hers were there, just not for her. More like for themselves, to fight all the time. It was like they sometimes even forgot she was there.
In Bella's family lots of problems were in the air. One of them her father.
What people would've said if you asked them about him?
Probably that he was attractive, attentive and even polite. Which he really was...when he was sober. He would've done anything for his family, sometimes it just really seemed like he'd do more for the drugs.
You see Bella's mom knew about everything. She thought she could change him. And after they had Bella he tried to change. But not even one year after she was born everything started again and with that also the hitting. Blake (the father) really loved his family, he knew he was too dangerous for them, yet he didn't want to let go.
This had been the worst mistake of his.
It was an usual friday evening when Blake came back home from a hard day at work. He was anxious and thought that maybe one bottle of beer would make everything better. All the problems. So he went to the kitchen to open the most opened cabinet in the kitchen by him. The thing is, when he did that, nothing was in there. It was empty, like nothing had ever been in there. This must've meant his wife had hidden everything he had in there, again. Every time she did that, it ended badly.
Badly in like, him slapping her once or twice. And eventually she'd give him everything back.
„Mommy, is das being mean again?", Bella whispered trying to be as quiet as possible. She was really scared of her father when he did these kind of things. He was unrecognizable. "Kathryn, give it back!", Blake yelled from the kitchen. He was furious. So Kathryn turned to Bella. She softly touched her cheek. "You stay here and hide till I come back, alright cutie?", she whispered, to which Bella answered with a nod. "If you see that the clock hand is on the three and the zero and I haven't come back yet, you must sneak out and get help okay?"
To that Bella didn't answer. "Doo you understand Bella?", Kathryn asked again. "Yes.", Bella assured.***
Natashas POV
"It looks like he accidentally killed her and then killed himself.", a police officer tells us. I turn my face to Bella, how could her father have done this!?
"We have to take Bella to an orphanage until we find family members who could take her in."
I nod. But somehow the thought of Bella going away makes me sad. Today was the first night in a lot that I've been hearing little kids footsteps in this house. Though I don't know her at all, these past hours have been the best hours since Thanos won. I look at Steve, my eyes glossy from thinking about what Bella might be going through right now. "You wanna keep her?", Steve asks whispering. I furrow my brows. How does he know?
I nod slowly. I want to keep her. At least until they find family of hers. "Is there any chance that we could keep her until you find any family members?", Steve asks the policemen. "Sure you'll just have to fill up some paperwork!"Authors note:
