Evelyn pulls up to the house, parking her car. She gazes out at the gentle rain, preparing herself to go inside. After taking in her surroundings, she retrieves her phone and sends a text to Elena, letting her know she's home. Almost instantly, the front door swings open, and Elena rushes out to greet her. Evelyn steps out of the car, and they share a warm hug.

"I missed you so much. I know it's only been fifteen days, but those fifteen days felt like forever!" Elena exclaims.

"I missed you too. I'm sorry that I left like that. I just couldn't stay locked in my room anymore," Evelyn explains.

"It's okay," Elena says as she grabs Evelyn's bag and goes inside. She turns around. "Hurry and get inside!" She yells.

Evelyn's smile brightened as she closed the car door, the metallic click of the lock echoing in the quiet. The raindrops danced on the roof, a soft percussion that accompanied her words. "Alright," she called out, her voice carrying through the mist. "I'm coming."

She slowly gets to the front door, and Elena looks at her. "Hurry and get inside before you get sick. She walks inside and is welcomed by Aunt Jenna and her brother, Jeremy.

"Hey, you're back," Aunt Jenna greeted, her brow furrowing with concern. "We missed you. How was it?"

"It was... good," Evelyn replied, her smile strained. Jeremy passed by, with a brief greeting before disappearing upstairs.
Evelyn ascended the stairs, Elena trailing close behind. As they reached her room, Elena placed the bag gently on the bed, her fingers hovering over the zipper. Evelyn's eyes widened, and she stepped forward. "Hey," she said, her voice warm but urgent. "Don't worry about that. I can handle it—it's just a few things!"

"Are you sure? I can help if you want," Elena replies.

Evelyn smiles. "Yeah, I'm sure. Thanks though. I'll be downstairs in a minute."

Elena's smile lingered as she nodded, slipping out of the room. Evelyn waits a moment, then closes her door. She crossed the room, unzipping her bag to retrieve her clothes. Methodically, she hung them up, her gaze occasionally drifting back to the door. Finally, she reached for her drink, taking a long sip before tossing it into the trash.

Evelyn swung her legs over the edge of the bed, her morning routine already set in motion. She began preparing her bag when she heard her sister's urgent yell from downstairs.

"Evelyn, can you give Jeremy a ride to school? Bonnie's picking me up!"

"Sure, I can give him a ride!" Evelyn's voice echoed down the hallway.

"Okay, thanks, see you guys at school!"

She walked downstairs and entered the kitchen, where Aunt Jenna stood. "Morning, Jenna."

"Morning, Eve." She smiles.

Evelyn walked over to the counter, retrieved a mug, and poured coffee into it. Just as she was about to take a sip, Jeremy swooped in and snatched it from her hands. "Hey, that was mine," she pouted.

"Not anymore," he says with a sigh.

She shot Jeremy a playful glare, swiftly grabbing another mug and filling it with coffee. As she took a sip, Aunt Jenna's voice interrupted her thoughts. "Oh, shoot, breakfast, right? What are you in the mood for?" She asks in a rush while looking around the kitchen frantically. "Toast. I can make toast?" She suggested.

"It's all about the coffee, Aunt Jenna," Evelyn answered with a smile and gestured at her mug.

"Your first day of school, and I'm already unprepared." She grabs two power bars, and hands them over, then reaches into her purse, finding money. Evelyn declines it, and Jeremy takes it. "Anything else? A number two pencil? What am I missing?"
