As we sit at a table in the grill, I turn to Caroline and ask, "Are you absolutely certain you want to help Tyler?"

"For the tenth time, yes, I'm sure." She nods. "Don't worry, I'll be fine. I just really want to help him. I feel bad. That video of Mason turning was..." she shivers. "I just don't want him to be alone for this."

"How can I not worry?" I glance around before lowering my voice. "My best friend is going to be with a werewolf on the full moon." I roll my eyes. "But I understand why you want to help him. Honestly, the details you shared about Mason's video make my body physically ache just thinking about it. Promise me that if anything goes wrong, you'll either leave or keep your distance."

"I promise." She nods. The door to the grill opens, and I see Tyler.

"Okay, well, I'll see you later. Okay?"

"Okay." She nods. As I walk away, I see Nathaniel waving me over. "Hey."

"Hey." He smiles. "Please, sit down."

"Thanks." I smile before I start listening to Tyler and Caroline.

"This girl Mason knows stopped by the house. She said he never made it back to Florida. My mom's freaking out, and she was on the phone with your mom when I left," he explains. "We should get going." As he and Caroline leave, she makes eye contact with me.

"What's wrong?" Nathaniel asks.

"Someone came to town looking for Mason, saying he never made it back to Florida," I explain. I look at Ric, and he whispers, "I'll call Damon" before he gets up and walks away from his table.

"Oh, that's not good."

"Nope." I sigh, shaking my head.

"So, do you want to go bowling later, if you're not busy?" Nathaniel questions as he grabs a fry.

"Yeah, sure, that sounds fun." Evelyn smiles nodding. She looks at the door to see someone new walk in.

"Hey, excuse me. Uh, crazy question. Do you know Tyler Lockwood?"

"Yeah, he's actually my friend," Matt answers.

"Can you let him know that Mason's friend Jules is looking for him?"

"Yeah, I'll let him know." Matt nods.

"Thanks," Jules says before walking away to the bar.

"Who's that?" Nathaniel asks, motioning to Jules.

"That's Mason's friend," Evelyn replies.

"Isn't Mason a werewolf? Do you think she's one too?" He questions curiously.

"I really hope not, but I guess we're going to find out pretty soon," Evelyn says as she watches Ric stumble to the seat next to Jules.

"Well, hello. Can I have a scotch and whatever this beautiful woman is drinking?" Ric slurs.

"Oh, no, one's my limit," Jules declines.

"Oh, come on, it's not like I'm a freak. I'm just being friendly to somebody who's new in town."

"Okay, if you insist. How do you know I'm new?"

"Because I've never seen you here before. And I am here every night." Alaric chuckles.

"Excuse me, is this, is this guy bothering you?" Damon asks, standing on the other side of her.

"I'm not bothering anybody." Ric shrugs.
