"You okay? Is Ray getting heavy?" Klaus taunts as we hike up the mountain, watching Stefan with Ray's lifeless body slung over his shoulders.

"I'm fine," Stefan grunts, not breaking his stride.

"Are you sure about that? We've been walking for quite some time now. If you need some water or a little sit-down..." Klaus smirks, his tone dripping with mock concern.

"You know, I get that we're stuck together, but if we could maybe just skip the chit-chat, it'd be great," Stefan snaps, his patience wearing thin.

"So much brooding. Your self-loathing is suffocating you, my friend," Klaus retorts, his smirk widening.

"Maybe it's because I'm a little tired of hunting werewolves. We've been at it all summer," Stefan replies, his frustration evident.

I roll my eyes, feeling a wave of annoyance wash over me. "Well, thanks to Ray, we found ourselves a pack," I say, glancing ahead at the werewolves unpacking their bags and setting up their tents, their chatter filling the air.

Stefan strides into the clearing, instantly drawing everyone's attention as he drops Ray's lifeless body to the ground. "Ray! Oh my god." A woman rushes to him, panic in her voice. "What's going on?" She looks up at Stefan, fear and confusion in her eyes. "Who are you?"

"The important question is, who am I?" Klaus steps forward, with me following closely behind. "Please forgive the intrusion. My name is Klaus."

"You're the hybrid," the woman whispers, slowly standing up and backing away, her eyes wide with recognition.

"You've heard of me. Fantastic," Klaus replies, a sinister smile spreading across his face. I sigh and sit down on a log, with Klaus and Stefan following suit.

"Do you have to sit so close?" I ask Klaus. He rolls his eyes, ignoring me before speaking up.

"It's fascinating, actually. A werewolf who isn't beholden to the moon. A vampire who doesn't burn in the sun. A true hybrid." Ray gasps back to life. "Excellent timing, Ray. Very dramatic."

"What's happening to me?" Ray asks, panic in his voice.

"Evelyn," Klaus nods at me.

I sigh, standing up. "Are any of you human? Your friend here needs human blood to complete his transition to vampire. If he doesn't get it, he'll die." I shrug, looking around at everyone. "No one?"

"It doesn't take much. Just a sample. Anyone? A boyfriend, a girlfriend along for the ride?" We scan the group before stopping at the guy who's been by the girl's side the entire time. "You." Klaus vamps to the guy, biting his arm and making him scream. I sit back down on the log, watching in amusement as Klaus pushes the guy to Stefan, who vamps and pins him to the ground next to Ray.

"No!" the girl yells, trying to run to him, but Klaus grabs her neck, stopping her.

"If you don't drink it, Ray, I will. Problem is, I don't know how to stop."

"It's the new order, sweetheart. You join us or you die."

"I'd rather die than be a vampire."

"Wrong choice." Klaus bites into his arm, forcing her to drink his blood. I turn to watch as Ray, desperate and trembling, crawls towards the man, sinking his teeth into his flesh. "She'll thank me for that later," Klaus chuckles darkly, snapping her neck and letting her lifeless body drop to the ground. "Okay, who's next?" he grins, his hybrid face revealing a terrifying blend of vampire and werewolf.

"There you go," Evelyn says, pulling her arm away from the girl's boyfriend. "Good as new. Now, relax. You're going to need your strength to feed the others when they wake up," she compels him, her voice dripping with authority, before standing up.
