The Sun Also Rises

"Where are we going?" Elena asks as she follows Greta down a dark path.

"This way," she says.

"You're Luka's sister, aren't you? I heard about you. He and your father were looking for you."

"Well, they were wasting their time. I wasn't lost," she tells Elena. Elena grunts as she almost loses her footing on all the rocks.

"God, I can't see anything." Great stops and waves her hand. Fire lights the dark path. Elena looks around before looking forward to seeing a body on the ground.

"Jenna?" She runs to her. "Jenna. Jenna!" She shakes her. "Jenna? Hey, hey, hey, Jenna!" She puts her hand on Jenna's neck to check her pulse. "Oh, my god. No. Jenna! No." She looks back at Greta. "He killed her? Why? I did everything that he asked." Jenna gasps awake sitting up.

"She's not dead. She's in transition." Greta smiles before walking away.

Jenna groans, holding her head in her hands. "Oh, my head. What's wrong with me?"

"Do you remember what happened?" Elena questions.

"You called me. You were so scared." Jenna groans. "I should have realized that it wasn't you. The second I walked out of the house, someone grabbed me. A vampire."

"Klaus. It was Klaus."

"He made me drink his blood. And I-I don't..." She shakes her head. "I don't remember anything after that. Where are we? W-what happened?"

"We're at the quarry. He brought us here," Elena answers.

"Why don't I remember anything?"

"Jenna, do you remember...when Evelyn and I told you how someone becomes a vampire?" Elena asks.

"Yeah, if you die with vampire blood in your system, it's..." Jenna's eyes widen. "Oh, god. He killed me."

"Jenna, listen to me. Listen to me; everything's going to be okay. I'm gonna get you out of here."

"I'm a vampire?"

"And I bet you're hungry." Greta walks over to them. Elena sees a sharp rock on the ground. She tries running for it, but Greta pushes her hand out, making Elena fly back. All of a sudden, there's fire circling around her when she stands up. "Don't bother trying to get through. I spelled the circle. You're trapped...no matter what you do."

"Greta...please just, just let her go." Greta cuts her wrist with the sharp rock.

"Klaus chose her."

"No." Elena shakes her head.

"Drink it." She holds her wrist to Jenna.

"Jenna, don't."

"I can't." Jenna stares at Greta's wrist.

"Let her go. Hey. No!" Jenna latches onto Greta's wrist, drinking her blood. After a minute, Greta shoves Jenna onto the ground, smiling, before walking away. "Jenna...it's gonna be okay." Greta lights a fire around Jenna. "Jenna. Hey, look at me. It's gonna be okay. It's gonna be okay." Elena nods, her eyes watering when veins show under Jenna's eyes.

"The sacrifice is completed in stages as the full moon sets. First the werewolf is killed, then the vampire, and finally the doppelgänger. Once Elena dies, the curse will be broken," Elijah explains to Stefan and Ric. "Klaus will become hybrid."

"So, when do we attack?" Ric asks.

"Elena's death will activate his dormant werewolf side. He'll be vulnerable during the transformation. That's when Bonnie comes in," Elijah tells them.
