Nick, Judy, and Vol were walking down the street once again, talking and enjoying the sunny day, amid laughter, topics, and questions with answers. Vol was wearing a short orange t-shirt and gray shorts, Nick wore a pink shirt with a more flowery tie pattern and khaki pants, and Judy wore a long blue two-piece sports suit. Although they talked almost every day, there was never a shortage of topics, especially due to Vol's interest in learning more about Zootopia. Although he had been living there for months, he still had questions about certain things, such as the most popular sport or who was running for mayor. He preferred not to get too involved in the city's politics, so he preferred to talk about the city's activities.
"Although it may not seem like it, soccer is played a lot. It's obviously divided into categories, but they usually have very exciting games." Judy commented. She'd already seen an official game, and she was interested in watching more.
"Interesting... But doesn't the ball hurt when you hit it without shoes?" Vol asked, genuinely interested in learning more.
"That's the trick." Nick said, smiling and raising his index finger. "When they play, they wear special shoes that cover the tops of their paws, as well as the bottoms. And the ball is made of a material that can't be punctured if a player accidentally hits it with their claws."
The blue fox placed his paw under his lower jaw, imagining this description. "Hmm... Not a bad idea. I'd like to try it sometime." Then he looked at them both. "What about beach volleyball or basketball? Or even tennis."
"Honestly, there isn't a greater popularity from one sport to another, they all have the same number of spectators, more or less." Nick replied. So many years of living in the city had made him familiar with the traditions.
"Well..." Judy added to comment on her point. "Soccer has a little more recognition, after all, journalists give it more importance."
Nick snorted, but wasn't annoyed. "Slightly, it doesn't make that much of a difference. Look how your math is failing you now."
"I'm perfectly fine with it, unlike you. I still remember the taxes you didn't didn't pay." Judy retorted, seeking the fox's answer.
Nick looked to the side, scratching his neck, pretending. "I don't know what you're talking about, Carrots, everything's fine." Then he gave her a mischievous smile. "You deleted it when I helped you."
"Who says I didn't save a backup of that message?" She returned the same look. After such an insult from the vulpine, she couldn't pass up the moment to provoke him.
"It's a bluff, you're not fooling me."
"Do you think so?"
Vol just looked from one to the other; he knew what they were referring to, but he liked his companions' strange behavior. Even so, the doubts about their activities in the city were almost resolved, he'd have to investigate more in the future, now it was time to spend time with the odd couple.
They discussed some plans and cases; after all, they would have to continue investigating some matters. They didn't know that the day was going to be different...
"So... that horse confessed something. It took time." Vol said, referring to Lewis Ward.
"True, it took longer than we thought, but look on the bright side: We have information to start working on it!" Judy commented, with a positive tone.
Without realizing it, the blue fox bumped into someone after turning the corner. It was a wolf with brown fur, a red shirt, and jeans. He seemed to be quite young, he was running and they collided suddenly, both falling to the ground with a groan.
"Ow..." Vol stroked his head, but looked back at the wolf. "Are you okay?"
"Ugh..." The wolf let out a whimper as he fell to the ground. Fortunately, he was fast and was able to react before his head hit the ground, staying seated. "Yeah, I'm fine..." He managed to say softly, raising an eyebrow at the strangely colored fox.
